Job Description


  • As a Civil Engineer/Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in managing civil engineering projects from design to completion.
  • You will oversee technical designs, ensure quality and safety compliance, monitor site progress, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful and timely project outcomes.
  • Manage and supervise civil engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Prepare and review structural designs, construction drawings, and documentation.
  • Perform structural analysis and design for both steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Lead project teams and coordinate with site engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in the procurement process and contract management.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with local construction regulations and safety standards.
  • Use project management tools to track progress, manage resources, and report to senior management.
  • Work with your team to develop projects from early concept through design development.
  • Research, plan and design structural solutions for a wide range of construction projects.
  • Responsible for completing structural analysis and design of structures
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Make calculations about pressures, loads and stresses.
  • Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately.
  • Organize and manage permit documents (drawings) where necessary.
  • Set out, level and survey the site.
  • Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance with applicable codes.
  • Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
  • Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval.
  • Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure.
  • Liaise with professional staff such as architects and engineers.
  • Responsible for the preparation of construction drawings and specification packages
  • Familiarize and implement the procedures as stated in the PM Manual
  • Project monitoring in strategically manner
  • Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
  • Liaise with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws.
  • Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress.
  • Carry out day-to-day management of the site that has been assigned to you, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors - this is site-specific and may not be the case on all projects.
  • Plan the work and efficiently organize the plan and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
  • Working according to project time schedule and meeting up with projects deadline.

Requirements

  • BSc. / M.Sc. in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, including experience in project management.
  • COREN certified (Essential)
  • Registered with COREN or in the process of registration.
  • Proficient in the use of Project Management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
  • Strong skills in structural design and analysis software such as:
    • AutoCAD
    • ETABS
    • SAFE
    • Staad Pro
    • ProtaStructure
    • Revit (a plus)
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian building codes and international standards.
  • Proven leadership and team coordination abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary
N250,000 - N300,000 / month.
