Job Position: Chartered Accountant
Job Location: Lagos
Job Description
- The Accountant is a crucial member of the finance team responsible for managing financial records, analyzing financial data, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- This role involves preparing financial statements, supporting audits, maintaining financial records, and providing insights to support decision-making processes within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and expense tracking.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide accurate and timely financial information for management, stakeholders, and regulatory compliance.
- Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, accounting principles, and internal control procedures. Assist with external audits and provide necessary documentation and support during the audit process.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. Stay updated on tax regulations and provide recommendations for tax planning and optimization.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts, collaborating with management to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of financial data, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Provide recommendations to optimize financial performance, cost reduction, and profitability.
- Financial Systems and Software: Utilize accounting software and financial management systems to record, process, and analyze financial transactions. Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
- Financial Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, department heads, and executives to interpret financial data, provide financial insights, and support decision-making processes.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required. Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) are preferred.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions to support decision-making.
- Technical Competence: Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems. Advanced Excel skills are desirable.
- Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills to present financial information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Accounting Principles: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their application in financial reporting.
- Financial Analysis Skills: Proficiency in financial analysis techniques, including ratio analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data recording, reporting, and analysis.
- Ethical Conduct: High ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive financial information and maintaining confidentiality.
Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 monthly.
