Horkey International Services Limited is a wholly owned Nigerian company, which provides services in Dredging, Corrosion Control and Marine support services. We are duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (C.A.C) as a limited Liability company incorporated on the 21st December 2000 in accordance and compliance with the Companies and Allied Matters Decree 1990 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Civil Engineer

Job Location: Rivers

Job Description


  • Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
  • Overseeing construction work
  • Ensure accurate setting out and leveling of the works in accordance with the drawings/specifications.
  • Ensuring the plans, drawings and quantities are accurate for calculations
  • Review Engineer/Services/Sub-Contractor drawings to ensure coordination and integration.
  • Ensure quality control of work and materials is carried out in accordance with the specification requirements.
  • Ensuring project scope meet agreed specifications, budgets and time frame.
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other professional staff, especially hydrographical, quantity surveyors and the overall project manager
  • Providing technical advice and solving problems on-site
  • Preparing site reports and filling in other paperwork
  • Liaising with quantity surveyors about the ordering and the pricing of materials
  • Scheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveries
  • Ensuring projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time.
  • Ensuring that health, safety and environmental sustainability policies are adhered to.

Key Skills & Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is a must
  • At least 5 years cognate experience in the civil construction industry
  • Should have carried out a shore protection project
  • Must be familiar with the construction of groynes with the use of geotextile fabric material, hard core rocks and boulders for shore protection etc.
  • Ability to work unsupervised with subcontractors and construction artisans
  • Ability to proffer technical solution and advice
  • Must be able to interpret drawings
  • Preparing site reports and filling in other paperwork
  • Ability to use AutoCAD
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Office applications and other basic ICT tools.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Added advantage if he/she is a member of a professional body (COREN)
  • Added advantage if he/she is a certified Project Management Professional
