SecondSTAX (SSX) was founded on the principle that investment firms will not be limited to investing only in their resident jurisdictions but will have access to trade in other markets and generate additional revenue for themselves and their clients. To bridge this gap in the market, SSX provides financial technology to investment firms for cross-border trading in African stocks and bonds.

Job Position: Compliance Manager

Job Location: Abuja

About the Role


  • We are looking for an experienced, all-round Compliance Manager who will ensure that the company adheres to legal, and regulatory standards and in-house policies.
  • The compliance manager will be responsible for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as providing guidance on compliance matters.

The role will have responsibility for, but not limited to the following:

  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal and regulatory guidelines and internal policies
  • Review and improve current procedures, including KYC, AML, and TF, both internally and for external counterparties SSX will deal with.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously
  • Examine and improve auditing processes to prevent compliance issues and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Revise procedures, reports, etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
  • Draft, modify and implement company policies
  • Collaborate with corporate counsels and HR departments to monitor the enforcement of standards and regulations
  • Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks
  • Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate
  • Design and run training for all staff at least every 6 months to ensure procedures and policies remain part of staff focus as they do their daily tasks.

Experience and Knowledge

  • BSc / BA in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience as compliance manager or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry’s standards and Nigerian regulations
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory standards relating to the fintech sector

Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping
  • A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities
  • An analytical mind able to foresee the complexities of procedures and regulations
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills
  • Excellent attention to detail.
