Position Summary


  • The entry level accountant is responsible for assisting with various financial tasks within an organization, primarily focusing on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and providing assistance to senior accountants and finance professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established accounting principles and procedures.
  • Data Entry and Bookkeeping: Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions and maintaining proper documentation for future reference.
  • Audit and Compliance Assistance: Assist in internal and external audits by gathering necessary documentation, conducting reconciliations, and supporting the implementation of audit recommendations and compliance requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting process by collecting and analyzing financial data, assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and monitoring actual performance against projected targets.
  • Expense Management: Review and reconcile expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, and providing guidance to employees on expense reimbursement processes.
  • Tax Compliance Support: Assist with tax-related tasks, including gathering information for tax returns, conducting research on tax regulations, and supporting the preparation of tax filings.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to gather necessary information, resolve discrepancies, and ensure smooth financial operations. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Financial Reporting Support: Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and presentations, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, by compiling and organizing relevant financial data.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct basic financial analysis, such as variance analysis, trend analysis, and ratio analysis, to identify financial patterns, highlight areas for improvement, and support decision-making processes.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes through continuous learning, professional development opportunities, and self-study.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in the process of completing the degree).
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of tax regulations and compliance is a plus.

Salary
N80,000 - N100,000 / month.
