Job Description


  • The Factory Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of factory equipment and processes by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • This position is responsible for maintaining optimal equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. 
  • The Factory Engineer will work closely with the production team to provide technical support and contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of the factory. 
  • Additionally, the role requires maintaining proper technical documentation and participating in virtual meetings with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) engineers for troubleshooting and technical discussions.

Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on factory machinery, including but not limited to:
  • CNC Cutting Machines, Nesting Machines, and Marking Machines
  • Splitting, Swing Arm, Travel Head, and Skiving Machines
  • Computerized Automatic Sewing Machines, Adhesive Application Machines, and Punching Machines
  • Toe Lasting, Backforming, Side and Seat Lasting, Universal Press, UV, Scriber, Unlasting, Chiller, Strobel, and Toecap Insert Machines
  • PU Pouring, TPR/PVC Injection, and Direct Injection PU Machines
  • Haida Machines for ISO 20345:2022 Complete Standard Testing Lab
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and breakdowns promptly to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.

Process Improvement Support:

  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance equipment efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Technical Support & Reporting:

  • Provide technical support to the production team to ensure smooth operations and address equipment-related issues.
  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment and machinery.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Conduct virtual meetings with OEM engineers for troubleshooting, technical discussions, and process optimizations.
  • Prepare and submit maintenance reports and equipment performance summaries to the Factory Engineering Lead.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and ISO standards.
  • Participate in regular safety inspections and risk assessments, implementing necessary safety improvements.
  • Promote a culture of safety and adherence to best practices within the factory.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Equipment Uptime: Maintain an average equipment uptime of 95% or higher.
  • Preventive Maintenance Compliance: Achieve 100% adherence to the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Breakdown Resolution Time: Resolve equipment breakdowns within an average of 2 hours.
  • Process Improvement Contributions: Implement at least two process improvement initiatives per year that enhance efficiency or reduce costs.
  • Technical Reporting Accuracy: Submit accurate and detailed maintenance reports on a monthly basis.
  • OEM Collaboration: Conduct at least three virtual meetings per quarter with OEM engineers for troubleshooting and technical discussions.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure zero major safety violations and maintain 100% compliance with factory safety standards.
  • Spare Parts Management: Ensure critical spare parts availability at all times to prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Training & Development: Participate in at least two technical training sessions per year to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Downtime Reduction: Contribute to at least a 10% reduction in unplanned downtime annually through proactive maintenance strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in factory engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or footwear production environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes, including CNC machines, injection molding systems, and automated sewing machines.
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, maintenance management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of ISO 20345:2022 and other relevant safety and quality standards is a plus.
  • Experience in conducting virtual meetings with OEM engineers for troubleshooting and technical support.
