Job Position: Female Nursing Assistant
Job Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Objective


  • To ensure quality service delivery to both outpatient and in-patient in patient as well as client management in the hospital, under direct supervision of the nurses, to improve health and general well-being through education and provision of coordination of care and services. 

Reports to:

  • Head Nurse, Supervisor IVF/Theatre, Supervisor NICU/Labour, Supervisor In patient, Supervisor Outpatient.

Direct Report:

  • Nurses, Housekeepers, Customer Service Reps, Medical doctors

Responsibilities

  • Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine patients' needs.
  • Adjust the positions of patients on beds or tables.
  • Provide physical support to assist patients in performing daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
  • Record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate, as directed by medical or nursing staff.
  • Document or otherwise report observations of patient behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
  • Feed patients or assist patients to eat or drink.
  • Assist patients with daily activities.
  • Measure and record food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
  • Record vital statistics or other health information.
  • Supply, collect, or empty bedpans.
  • Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards.
  • Undress, wash and dress patients who are unable to do so for themselves.
  • Assist nurses in administering medications or immunizations under supervision.
  • Transport patients to treatment units, testing units, operating rooms, or other areas, using wheelchairs, stretchers, or moveable beds.
  • Provide information such as directions, visiting hours, or patient status information to visitors or callers.
  • Assist nurses or physicians in the operation of medical equipment or provision of patient care.
  • Assist practitioners in performing medical procedures.
  • Assist in transporting specimens, such as urine, feces, or sputum, within the facility.
  • Apply clean dressings, slings, stockings, or support bandages, under the direction of a nurse or physician.
  • Assist nurses in performing procedures.
  • Transport blood bags to and from the laboratory to any part of the hospital.
  • And any other Adhoc duties.

Requirements

  • CHEW Certificate                                     
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-registration experience
  • Current practicing license
  • Required Skills & Competencies
  • Must be computer literate.   
  • Excellent people skills.        
  • Dealing with emotionally charged situations.                                          
  • Professionally skilled.                       
  • Ability to answer questions and offer advice.
