Purpose of Job

  • The Finance Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of finance and operations in achieving financial goals and maintaining integrity. Ethical conduct, resilience, and proactive decision-making.
  • The Finance Manager is responsible for Managing the timely, complete, and accurate registration of transactions in the accounting system of KNCV Nigeria and related legal entities and for reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting and Providing Financial Information:

  • As directed by the Director of Finance and Operations, ensure the routine generation of timely and accurate internal and external financial reports, including monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Collaboration with the HR Manager for accuracy in Payroll and payment for Associates and Consultants
  • Verify the accounting (description, accounting codes, analytical codes, monthly exchange rate, etc.)
  • Work closely with the cluster Accounts Officers and SPOs, and SPM to ensure the Standard Operating Procedures for voucher redemption followed properly.
  • Ensures the monthly payroll payment is processed accurately and on time for all staff.
  • Supervise month-end closings and bank reconciliations.

Audits and Internal Controls:

  • Controls the monthly deduction for pension premiums and social insurance; validates and approves pension and social insurance payments.
  • Continuously build the capacities of the finance team members by implementing effective performance management system. Develop KPIs and follow up mechanism to ensure timely and efficient implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT and Tax regulations.
  • Ensure that VAT and Taxes are cleared promptly.
  • Provide support during project audits and statutory audits.
  • Appraise the team members under the Finance Manager direct supervision.
  • Ensure monthly bank reconciliation of all country bank accounts on regular basis.
  • Control the effectiveness of VAT and Tax payments deposited into the bank.
  • Support and train the Cluster Account Officer(s) to ensure proper recording of financial transactions in the accounting EXACT.

Other Tasks:

  • Prepares journal entries, e.g., severance accruals in the general ledger.
  • Prepares account reconciliation of all payroll-related balances accounts monthly.
  • Controls the monthly deduction for pension premiums and social insurance; validates and approves pension and social insurance payments.
  • Collaborate with HR on payroll accounting-related matters.
  • Ensure timely production, and support review of project invoices.
  • Sees the maintenance of the financial information systems, identifies bottlenecks, and takes the necessary steps to solve these.
  • Offers advice and assistance in the form of management information which makes it possible to take corrective action on time.
  • Responsible for the optimization of payroll processes & systems in collaboration with HR.
  • Every other task assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations and Chief Operating Officer.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance related discipline. Additional master’s degree will be an advantage
  • At least 6 years in related or similar position
  • Possession of ICAN or ACCA will be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of different donors USAID, Global fund.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software systems (EXACT Globe) and excellent Excel knowledge
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • Good team player and flexible while working with other colleagues.
  • Advanced IT knowledge.
  • Must be flexible with absolute integrity, organizational awareness and understanding of cultural differences.
  • Have a high sense of integrity and transparency.
  • Ability to manage official information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
