Job Position: HSE Officer

Job Location: Ondo

Job Overview


  • The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the company’s operations adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • The role involves overseeing compliance with regulatory requirements, conducting safety audits, managing incident reporting, and leading safety improvement initiatives.
  • The HSE Officer will also ensure employees and customers are well-educated on safety practices and emergency response procedures, particularly within the LPG industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the incident reporting and investigation processes.
  • Ensure all incidents are documented, analyzed, and resolved in a thorough, timely, and effective manner.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is functional and accessible, and lead regular emergency drills.
  • Act as the lead responder during incidents or emergencies.
  • Prepare and implement monthly HSE plans, setting clear objectives and initiatives to enhance workplace safety.
  • Develop and oversee the HSE budget.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety training programs for employees.
  • Lead regular safety inspections at all operational sites to identify and mitigate potential hazards
  • Develop and maintain robust emergency response plans.
  • Ensure resources are allocated effectively for training, equipment, and emergency preparedness.
  • Manage the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety tools.
  • Ensure all equipment complies with regulatory standards and is readily available for use.
  • Implement initiatives to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Prepare regular safety reports for management, including incident statistics, audit findings, training results.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of post NYSC experience 
  • Certification in HSE practices is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
