Job Position: Human Resource Generalist
Job Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job Summary
- The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and policy implementation.
- The role partners closely with hiring managers and global business services leadership to ensure strategic alignment of HR initiatives with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Global Business Services management team to identify budgeted staffing needs in alignment with workforce plans.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job description development, advertising vacancies, sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and preparing offer letters and onboarding communications.
- Coordinate a seamless onboarding process by preparing necessary documentation, scheduling orientations, and liaising with relevant departments to ensure a positive first-day experience.
- Perform administrative tasks including new-hire orientation logistics, data entry into the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), conducting exit interviews, and participating in regular HR audits for compliance and data integrity.
- Provide dedicated HR advisory support to employees and managers on issues related to absenteeism, workplace health, conduct, grievances, organizational change, and other employee relations matters.
- Liaise with external HR consultants or vendors for special projects, as needed, to support strategic HR initiatives.
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and communicating HR policies and procedures, including the employee handbook and directory.
- Work collaboratively with the HR team to design and implement strategic HR programs that support company goals.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure full compliance with applicable labor laws and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Academic / Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- HR Certification (e.g., CIPM, PHR) is mandatory.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of proven experience as an HR Generalist, HR Specialist, or in a similar HR role
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, HR policies, and compliance regulations
- Advanced knowledge of HRIS, applicant tracking systems (ATS) and ability to learn new technical systems, when necessary.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in using tools like Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle confidential information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with employees and managers at all levels
- Excellent listening and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent problem-solving, reporting, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while fostering positive relationship
- Proven ability to partner with executive leadership.
