African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Housekeeping Supervisor

Job Location: Ogijo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary


  • The housekeeping supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining the operational excellence of the production plant by upholding the highest hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • This position is instrumental in ensuring that every corner of the facility, including high-traffic production areas, sensitive hygiene zones, employee welfare spaces, administrative offices, and external premises, meets or exceeds stringent cleanliness and safety benchmarks.
  • The supervisor is tasked with meticulously planning, coordinating, and overseeing all sanitation activities.

Responsibilities
Hygiene and Sanitation Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with local and international safety.
  • Implement and monitor strict sanitation protocols for all production and non-production areas.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment, surfaces, and floors are clean and sanitized per plant requirements.
  • Oversee cleaning of high-risk areas, such as production floors, raw material storage, packaging zones, and processing equipment.

Team Management:

  • Train, and supervise housekeeping staff, ensuring they understand and follow plant sanitation procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule for daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning tasks.
  • Assign tasks and evaluate the performance of housekeeping staff, providing feedback and additional training where necessary.
  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment, encouraging teamwork and efficiency among staff.

Cleaning and Sanitation Supplies Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning chemicals, cleaning tools, and Cleaning PPE, ensuring timely procurement.
  • Select and approve cleaning agents and disinfectants in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Ensure proper labelling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals, minimizing waste and risks to employee safety.

Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed cleaning logs and records for all housekeeping activities, ensuring they are up-to-date and audit ready.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address any sanitation-related issues identified during inspections or audits.
  • Participate in internal and external food safety audits, demonstrating compliance with hygiene protocols.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure the housekeeping team adheres to the plant’s safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Conduct safety briefings and training for housekeeping staff to minimize accidents and injuries.
  • Investigate and resolve any hygiene-related incidents promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance sanitation practices and recommend process improvements.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and innovations in cleaning methods, tools, and products.
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement cross-functional hygiene initiatives.

2.) Turner

Job Location: Ogijo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Turning / shaping and mechanical fitting in the workshop and crane jobs in my areas of work
  • Bring the new ideas, coordinating the lead team.
  • To detect damage parts in a moving machine, putting it in order to aid production process
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Taking accurate measurements
  • Teaming up with machinists
  • Assembling metal components
  • Polishing finished components
  • Selecting the cutting tools for machining operations using CNC or conventional lathes
  • Mounting and dismounting workpieces on/from lathe
  • Performing roughing and finishing operations
  • Checking finished pieces to ensure compliance with technical drawings
  • Carrying out maintenance of turning lathe and tools
  • Cleaning turning lathe and work area, e.g. removing swarf / chips.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an NCE / OND / SSCEqualification with 2 - 5 years experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Ability to use manual and CNC turning lathes
  • Reliability, precision and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow instructions
  • Knowledge of industrial machining techniques
  • Ability to use measuring equipment for quality control checks
  • Knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and procedures for machine tools
  • Strong manual skills
  • Flexible approach to work hours and willingness to work shifts.

3.) Procurement officer

Job Location: Ogijo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Procurement Officer manages and directs the purchasing of all the goods and services the company needs.
  • Also responsible for identifying potential supplier sources, conducting interviews with potential vendors, negotiating favorable supplier agreements and managing supplier and vendor contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequacy of bid specifications and preparation of sourcing related documents
  • Process Navision transactions and monitor contract executions; termination, renewal, or amendment of terms
  • Identify and deliver savings on spend under management.
  • Handle performance issues and escalate, as necessary.
  • Liaise with the store and ensuring all criteria/approval/specifications are met
  • Reconcile or resolve value discrepancies and proper registration of all invoices
  • Support business partnering of assigned business units and deliver on approved SLA.
  • Track, and report key functional metrics in line with departmental objectives.
  • Assist the Procurement Manager in establishing strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Coordinate and carry out regular market surveys to ensure that the Company's vendors and suppliers are supplying at competitive price.

Qualifications

  • BSc/HND in any related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of cognate experience in a similar capacity.

  • Have great persuasive and negotiation skills.
  • Possess analytical skills and critical thinking with good attention to detail.
