1.) Features Lead

Job Description
- We are hiring a Features Lead to oversee, shape, and execute Pulse Nigeria’s long-form storytelling and culture coverage.
- This role blends editorial leadership with production logistics, managing the full process of ideation, writing, editing, and producing feature stories, both digital and on the ground.
- The Features Lead will combine creative vision with operational precision, ensuring that stories not only read well but are delivered efficiently across platforms.
- You will lead a small editorial and production team, coordinating with video, design, and social units to create multi-format stories that capture how young Nigerians live, work, and express themselves — across lifestyle, culture, society, and innovation
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Direction & Story Planning:
- Develop a clear editorial strategy for feature storytelling aligned with Pulse Nigeria’s content priorities.
- Build and maintain a content calendar for features, special reports, and cultural deep dives.
- Identify timely and original story ideas that reflect youth perspectives, social trends, and underreported narratives.
- Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief to decide which stories deserve extended coverage or multimedia treatment.
Writing, Editing & Story Development:
- Guide stories from pitch to publication, ensuring they meet Pulse’s editorial standards.
- Edit features for clarity, depth, and structure while maintaining an authentic, youthful tone.
- Collaborate with the design and video teams to strengthen storytelling through visuals and multimedia elements.
- Ensure stories balance depth and readability, connecting emotionally with digital audiences.
Logistics & Production Coordination:
- Oversee the planning and coordination of feature shoots, field reporting, and on-location interviews.
- Manage logistics, including scheduling, crew coordination, transport, and permissions for production-related features.
- Work closely with the Video Production team to ensure alignment on timelines and story direction.
- Track deadlines, manage editorial workflows, and ensure smooth cross-department collaboration.
- Maintain an organised archive of past and ongoing features, assets, and documentation.
Writer & Contributor Management:
- Lead, mentor, and edit work from in-house writers and external contributors.
- Provide editorial feedback and ensure consistent story quality across the team.
- Expand Pulse Nigeria’s network of freelance writers, photographers, and field collaborators.
- Manage commissioning and payments for contributors, in coordination with finance and operations.
Audience & Platform Collaboration:
- Partner with the Head of Social Content to amplify features across Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Work with the Growth and SEO teams to optimise visibility and search performance for long-form stories.
- Adapt feature angles into shorter, social-friendly formats that maintain storytelling impact.
- Collaborate with video teams to develop companion pieces or feature documentaries.
Performance, Reporting & Insights:

Track and analyse performance metrics for published features, including views, engagement, and dwell time.

Use insights to refine storytelling strategy and highlight winning formats.

Present monthly reports on feature desk output, quality, and logistics performance.
Innovation & Special Projects:
- Develop new feature formats, interactive packages, or multimedia storytelling ideas.
- Partner with brand and creative teams on editorially aligned sponsored features.
- Experiment with data-driven storytelling, photo essays, and short-form visual features.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in journalism, with at least 2 years in feature editing or long-form content leadership.
- Strong editorial judgment and writing/editing experience across lifestyle, culture, and social commentary.
- Proven ability to manage both creative direction and operational logistics for editorial projects.
- Experience coordinating production shoots, field interviews, or multimedia storytelling.
- Excellent project management and multitasking skills.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across departments.
- Familiarity with SEO, social media trends, and data-driven storytelling.
- Experience leading small teams and managing contributors.

2.) Head of Design

Job Description
- We are hiring a Head of Design to lead the creative vision and visual identity of Pulse Nigeria across all its touchpoints - editorial, social, and branded content.
- The Head of Design will define and own how Pulse Nigeria looks, feels, and communicates visually. From the design of news stories and original series to campaign visuals and platform experiences, this role will guide every creative decision that shapes the Pulse Nigeria brand.
- You will collaborate closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Head of Social Content to ensure our visual output across editorial, video, and social platforms is strong, cohesive, and unmistakably Pulse. You will also lead and mentor a team of designers, setting a high standard for creative excellence and execution speed.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Identity & Creative Direction:
- Define and maintain the visual identity of Pulse Nigeria across editorial, social, and commercial outputs.
- Establish and evolve a consistent design system that aligns visuals across the website, social platforms, newsletters, and branded campaigns.
- Oversee the creative direction and visual consistency of Pulse Nigeria Originals and all editorial and social products under the Pulse Nigeria brand.
- Lead brand refreshes and visual improvements that strengthen audience recognition and trust.
- Approve major design assets, ensuring all visuals reflect Pulse Nigeria’s distinct voice and aesthetic.
Editorial and Social Design Oversight:
- Partner with the Editor-in-Chief to elevate visual storytelling across daily news, features, and special reports.
- Collaborate with the Head of Social Content to design high-performing templates, motion graphics, and visual frameworks that boost engagement.
- Supervise visual packaging for video content, ensuring consistency across Reels, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Develop guidelines for multimedia storytelling and ensure the visual layer enhances clarity and appeal.
Cross-Platform Consistency:
- Align design standards across the Pulse Nigeria website, social platforms, and branded content projects.
- Collaborate with Product and Tech teams to deliver a seamless, cohesive user experience across digital platforms.
- Provide creative direction for special projects, partnerships, and campaigns to maintain a unified visual language.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and grow Pulse Nigeria’s design team, fostering a culture of collaboration, speed, and quality.
- Implement efficient design workflows, review systems, and training plans for creative staff.
- Identify and fill skill gaps, ensuring the team stays current with tools and trends.
- Champion design thinking across departments and ensure creative quality at every level.
Innovation & Experimentation:
- Explore new design trends, motion formats, and creative tools that keep Pulse Nigeria visually relevant and ahead of the curve.
- Drive experimentation in visual storytelling and presentation, introducing new formats and layout ideas.
- Encourage innovation in how design supports editorial and social objectives.
Performance & Insights:

Requirements
- 7+ years of professional design experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Proven record of shaping brand and visual identity for a media, content, or digital company.
- Strong portfolio showcasing editorial, social, and branded content design.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and motion design tools.
- Excellent leadership and project management skills with a focus on clarity and speed.
- Deep understanding of social-first design, typography, colour systems, and visual hierarchy.

3.) Senior Digital Account Manager

The Role
- Pulse is lookingfor an experienced Senior Digital Account Manager.
- Our Senior Digital Account Managers are post-sale Digital Marketing Strategists responsible for the successful management of digital strategy for our client brands.
- You will answer key questions such as how brands are communicated and experienced through digital interactions, and how 360 digital interactions fit into broader customer experiences.
- You will help to achieve the client’s strategic brand and business objectives by providing them with guidance and working with the internal team to achieve seamless strategy delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop effective post-sale strategies for clients in accordance with their requirements and ensure seamless execution.
- Proactively suggest innovative digital strategies to improve the quality of client campaigns.
- Ensure accountability is established during the project planning process.
- Produce content calendars according to dictated deadlines and to the highest standard.
- Full responsibility for ensuring work is delivered to the highest standard, on time and to budget.
- Achieve 100% realizations on all assigned accounts.
- Ensure proper internal QA is done before any work is shared with the client for review.
- Manage client relationships and provide clients with excellent service and support.

- Communicate effectively with all team members and develop strong, trusting relationships with all internal partners.
- Research and analysis of customers, market conditions and competitor data for relevant decisions and advice.
- Review new and trending technologies for regular knowledge updates to ensure our client offering remains innovative.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Client Account Manager
- A professional qualification in digital marketing a plus
- At least Bachelor’s degree level of education preferred
- Great relationship-building skills to foster client relationships
