Showers Kiddies Publishers is a dynamic company whose aim is to provide quality education accessible to the African child. We started our distribution journey from the nooks and crannies of Nigeria and progressed to other neighbouring countries. We are situated in the heart of the buzzing city of Lagos, Nigeria. As a publishing company, our vision is to ‘build a prime educational brand’ by being the best in quality and style. Since starting in 2005, we have published a distinctive range of educational books, such as English Language, Mathematics, Science, English Literature, Vocational Aptitude, Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning among others. Our books range for pupils from 2 years to 11 years old. We have been able to give our pupils the opportunity to access knowledge, regardless of their background or circumstance.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Graphic Artist
Job Location: Gbagada, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with clients to determine their requirements, timescale and budget.
  • Managing client proposals from typesetting through to graphic design, print and production.
  • Working with clients’ ideas and managing their expectations.
  • Developing concepts, graphics and layouts, including making decisions about fonts, images, readability and readers’ needs.
  • Determining size and arrangement of copy and illustrative material, as well as font style and size.
  • Preparing rough drafts of material based on an agreed brief.
  • Keeping clients up to date, listening to and acting on feedback, and explaining the rationale behind graphic design decisions.
  • Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required.
  • Keeping up to date with design and software trends.
  • Liaising with external printers or production teams to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed or presented to the highest quality.
  • Create and update the company’s website periodically.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent IT skills, especially with design and photo-editing software.
  • Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, corel draw and other graphic design softwares.
  • Exceptional creativity and innovation.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Been able to meet up with realistic deadlines.
  • Effectively manage time with tasks.

Desirable Skills:

  • A minimum of HND or B.Sc Degree in Computer Science or any related field.
  • Experience working in a book publishing company is an advantage.
  • 2-5 years working experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Being able to create and update the company’s website.
  • Being able to move with tides in the education and graphic industry.

Job Position: Personal Assistant
Job Location: Gbagada, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the managing director and performing personal, secretarial and administrative duties.
  • Typing, formatting, and editing reports, documents, and presentations.
  • Answering calls on behalf and for the managing director
  • Making travel arrangements and general protocol activities .
  • Scheduling appointments, maintaining an events calendar, and sending reminders.
  • Managing internal and external correspondence on behalf of senior management. Especially the managing director.
  • Liaise with IT, Sales, PR and HR teams on daily working activities.
  • Liaise with other executives on behalf of the managing director.
  • Preparing facilities for scheduled events and arranging refreshments, if required.
  • Observing best business practices and etiquette.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or any Certification in Personal Assistant and Secretarial training.
  • Excellent business practices and etiquette.
  • Ability to manage internal and external correspondence.
  • Proficiency in appointment scheduling software such as MS Outlook, as well as call forwarding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion and trustworthiness: you will often be party of confidential information
  • Organisational skills and the ability to multitask
  • The ability to be proactive and take the initiative

Desirable Skills:

  • Advanced typing, note-taking, recordkeeping, and organizational skills.
  • Extensive experience in creating documents and spreadsheets, using office software such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Certification in project management, secretarial work, office administration or related training.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a personal assistant would be advantageous.

Requirements and Skills

  • Minimum of Diploma qualification in Business or a related field.
  • Proven 2-3 years work experience as a Marketer in selling Books to schools.
  • Not more than 40 years.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales.
  • Excellent selling, negotiation and communication skills
  • Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
  • Ready to work with little or no supervision.
