ILLAJ Commodity Trading is a dynamic player in the commodity trading industry, specializing in the procurement, trading, and exportation of high-demand commodities.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Managing Director
Job Location: Kaduna

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other departments to produce feasible and aligned operational plans that support supply chain and business objectives.
- Drive financial target achievement by minimizing forecast inaccuracies and aligning operational strategies with sales and marketing goals.
- Enhance cross-departmental communication and joint initiatives to foster alignment of procurement and supply chain goals with broader organizational objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement and supply chain team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Establish and uphold high standards of performance within the team, supporting individual and organizational development.
- Promote process improvements to enhance productivity, accuracy, and efficiency across all supply chain functions.
- Manage general operations of the company’s procurement of commodity and non-commodity materials, including strategic sourcing from both local and international suppliers.
- Develop, implement, and refine demand planning processes to generate accurate demand forecasts.
- Streamline procurement workflows to improve operational efficiency, achieve cost savings, and maintain quality standards.
- Optimize operational efficiencies and procurement processes using ERP modules tailored for purchasing and procurement, enhancing data accuracy and supporting real-time decision-making.
- Capture, interpret, and leverage customer and market demand information to support supply chain and business decisions.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to create and communicate demand information, ensuring alignment with business objectives and supply chain capabilities.
- Measure and monitor demand planning accuracy, continuously improving processes to minimize forecast errors and bias
- Work with the supply chain manager to develop and execute procurement strategies that enhance supplier diversification, ensure supply continuity, and mitigate risks.
- Work with the Inventory department to oversee warehousing and inventory control processes to ensure efficient storage, handling, and movement of goods.
- Implement policies and procedures that optimize inventory turnover rates and enhance the company's cash flow and working capital management.
- Develop organizational policies on inventory management best practices to maintain optimal stock levels, prevent stock outs, and avoid overstocking.
- Oversee import and export logistics to ensure smooth international trading operations, minimizing customs delays and ensuring compliance with international trade laws.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of import/export regulations and tariffs to navigate and mitigate trade barriers and costs.
- Collaborate with logistics partners and internal teams to streamline cross-border shipments and manage customs clearance processes effectively
Educational Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- An MBA or Master’s in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (MLSCM) from a reputable institution is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
- 10-12 years of extensive experience in procurement, supply chain, and commodity trading roles, with a focus on demand planning, inventory management, and import/export operations.
- Proven expertise in ERP software for managing procurement and supply chain processes efficiently.
- In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations, ensuring compliance and smooth operations in international trade.
- Prior experience and familiarity with the Nigerian and African commodity markets, offering valuable regional insight and strategic advantage.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Negotiation strategies skills to achieve favorable outcomes in terms of cost and quality.
- Proven leadership abilities, with a history of guiding teams to exceed performance goals.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, consistently identifying critical elements in complex situations.
- Ability to takes proactive measures in optimizing stock levels to meet demand while controlling expenses.
- Flexibly adjusts strategies and operations skills in response to evolving market trends and organizational objectives
Salary
N500,000 - N600,000 monthly.
