1.) Health and Safety Officer
Job Location: Abuja

Job Summary
- Husk is seeking a Health and Safety Officer, to join the QHSSE team in Nigeria towards achieving its targets.
- This individual will be responsible for implementing and coordinating in all Health and Safety (H&S) programs within the company’s operations.
- In addition, helping in development of the health and safety culture at sites and operational plants.
- The individual must be passionate about contributing to solving one of Nigeria’s most critical challenges – the energy access deficit.
- This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in many countries including India and Nigeria etc.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Deliver Safety Programs:
- Conduct Tool Box Talks to educate employees on safe work procedures and hazard awareness.
- Prepare and deliver safety training programs to equip staff with the knowledge and skills to work safely.
Maintain a Safe Work Environment:
- Conduct regular inspections of tools, tackles, equipment, and machinery to identify and address potential hazards.
- Ensure all field employees and third party contractors wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their tasks.
- Monitor work practices to identify and address unsafe behaviors.
Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop preventative measures.
- Prepare comprehensive accident and incident reports for documentation and future analysis.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all required safety procedures and safe operating procedures are readily available in the workplace.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, training sessions, accidents, and incidents.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Maintain and inspect first-aid kits and fire extinguishers at all workplaces, ensuring they are readily available and in proper working order.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for fire, evacuation, and other potential hazards.
- Conduct regular fire drills, rescue drills, evacuation drills, and mock drills to ensure employee preparedness.
Safety Awareness and Training:
- Design and deliver safety training programs for new joiners and existing employees to educate them on safe work practices, hazard identification, and emergency procedures.
- Develop and display safety-related signage and posters throughout the workplace to promote safety awareness and compliance.
Compliance and Collaboration:
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulatory changes to maintain a proactive approach to safety.
Required Skills & Attributes
- 2-3 years of experience preferably in the renewable energy sector.
- A thorough and practical knowledge of occupational safety laws and regulations.
- Problem solver and can identify issues and possible solutions swiftly.
- You can also ideally execute based on direct instruction and under guidance from other members of the team.
- A graduate in Engineering/Science is preferred with a diploma in Industrial Safety/Construction Safety.

2.) Environment & Social Executive
Job Location: Lafia, Nasarawa
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and manage E&S policies, procedures, and the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across all company operations.
- Collaborate with Health and Safety (H&S) executives to integrate E&S considerations into all business practices.
Compliance and Sustainability:
- Ensure adherence to all environmental and safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement in our environmental performance and social responsibility practices.
- Secure adequate resources for effective E&S program execution.
Risk Management and Proactive Approach:
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential E&S risks within operations.
- Conduct thorough investigations of operational E&S incidents, ensuring proper record keeping and reporting.
Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive E&S training programs for all employees across the organization.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through knowledge sharing and awareness initiatives.
Required Skills & Attributes
- 5-7 years of proven experience in developing and implementing E&S programs preferably in the renewable energy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of safety principles and risk management techniques.
- Have a learning mindset and are keen to deliver hands-on solutions in the field.
- Be a problem solver and can identify issues and possible solutions swiftly.
- A thorough and practical knowledge of Centre, State and Local social & environmental laws and regulations.
- At least one year of supervisory experience
- Can also ideally execute based on direct instruction and under guidance from other members of the team.

3.) Manager, Operational Excellence
Job Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full Time
Role Summary
- Husk is seeking a Manager, Operational Excellence who will be responsible for all plant operations and maintenance activities.
- The individual must have high level of technical competency with an understanding of electrical engineering, ensuring safety and environmental inspections and preventive maintenance within Husk power plants.

Key Responsibilities
General:
- Reporting to the Nigeria Country Director and Global Operations Team and responsible for Uptime management, preventive maintenance, safety practices, capacity utilization, asset management, and report generation
- Responsible for the smooth functioning of PV Solar/Biomass hybrid power plants and implementing effective techniques to bring efficiency to the performance of the plants.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of commitment to the company’s success by proactively managing growth plans and a bias to action.
- Management of operational budget and monitoring of performance.
- Management of entire Service Team across different locations and NOCs.
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Plant Operations:
- Management of daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly equipment healthiness checklist; Preventive maintenance planning; Shutdown planning; Daily reading logbook, etc.
- Management of process for Quality verification and compliance of work during Handover – Take over from the Projects Department.
- Responsible for overall monitoring and reporting of plant and asset health and performance.
- Regular interaction and engagement with other verticals especially sales to ensure and extend required support for growth of business.
- Responsible for managing and ensuring security standards at the plant and enable quick turnaround time for action in case of security issues.
- Ability to ensure safety standards are followed at the core of operations and plan, organize, schedule, and direct the safety training and compliance at sites.
- Management of overall KPIs and deliverables for operations and ensuring that the complete team is aligned to the same.
- Responsible for training and development of the operations team including electricians, and engineers as per the system design standards.
- Responsible for management of spares and inventory components based on criticality and lifecycle of the components.
- Responsible for managing fuel supply chain and stock for Diesel generators and Biomass gasifiers.
Asset Management:
- Interface with the vendors/contractors to review the operation of plant equipment and systems continuously, minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure completion of technical documents; grid outages, onsite equipment problems, log entries, site visits; and safety and environmental inspections to comply with standard operating procedures.
- Interact and liaison with local authorities for smooth functioning of the plant and management of ROW issues.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Overall, a minimum of 12 - 15 years of relevant experience or more.
- B.Tech / B.Eng / MTech - Specialization: Electrical / Electronics Engineering from a reputable institution.
- An MBA is an added advantage.
- Experience working in dynamic high-growth entrepreneurial/start-up organizations.
- Team player and prior experience in the management of large, decentralized teams.
- Adequate knowledge and understanding of handling operations & maintenance of solar PV plants, Biomass, and other renewable energy sources, especially micro-grids.
- Should have Monitored maintenance of LT Transmission and distribution lines, protective relays & associated equipment, and inverters.
- Good knowledge of solar PV Panels, Inverters, Battery banks, T&D lines, SCADA systems, and all solar electrical operational equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of renewable energy, instrumentation control systems, and in-depth knowledge of both solar & biomass power generation systems and procedures.
- Very proactive, with deep commercial acumen, and a high level of “customer-centricity”
- Problem-solving ability and prior experience in the management of mass-scale deployments with digital platforms.
- You have no issues working in (and living around) rural Nigeria.
