Job Description


  • Project Officer (PO) Position is the lead role in implementation of the project. The PO will manage day to day activities of the project and will lead project team.
  • The PO will be responsible for managing project activities, project budget and also coordinate with external stakeholders for smooth implementation of the project.
  • Project Officer will represent Organization in meetings with donor, government officials and other line agencies.

Overall Job Purpose

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of medium to large archaeological field projects of all types.
  • To manage and develop teams you are responsible for.
  • To ensure professional standards of work are maintained and projects are completed to time and budget.
  • To complete post-excavation analysis and reporting on projects undertaken in a timely manner and to the highest professional standard.
  • To help develop methods of project initiation, execution and delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management:

  • Project Officer (PO) is responsible to implement the project activities in close coordination with project participant.
  • Prepare monthly and weekly work plan.
  • Manage project budget and inform DONOR Organization executive committee and Project Management committee of any under or over spending of budget.
  • Manage and supervise project activities through project life cycle
  • Interact with project funding DONOR NGO to develop understanding of key deliverables of project.
  • Represent Organization in monthly progress review meeting with funding DONOR NGO
  • Provide phasing and scheduling of project.
  • Participate in development of project regarding program activities.
  • Participate in the development and issuance of project procedures.
  • To coordinate and ensure timely completion of reports.
  • To provide input to DONOR Organization management and Project Management Committee regarding project performance and status.
  • To help facilitate project-related meetings, including devising of agendas.
  • To actively manage project reports to ensure reports are delivered within time.
  • To document activities and report to communicate project findings and activities
  • Ensure to implement child safeguarding/protection policy and Code of Conduct of Organization.
  • To operate within organizational policies and practices.
  • To provide technical and management support to project team.
  • Develop monthly expense forecast and submit to Finance department for smooth implementation.

Specific Tasks
Contracting and Procurement:

  • Provide operational support to project staff and consultants on all aspects of project management, operations and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate the contracting process and issue final contracts to consultants.
  • Ensure Amplify Change staff and consultants are provided with correct invoice and expense claim documentation.
  • Collect invoices and expenses claims on a monthly basis from consultants and staff contracted
  • Management and upkeep of contracts files.
  • Implement procurement systems, including contracting procedure and supporting the development of terms of reference for consultants and subcontractors.
  • Implement performance management and quality assurance process.
  • Implement risk and duty of care procedures.

Work Plan Monitoring:

  • Maintain and regularly update the contract tracking tool for Amplify Change.
  • Communicate the upcoming tasks to team members on a weekly basis.
  • Track overdue activities and follow up with appropriate team members to monitor delays.
  • Anticipate upcoming work plan activities and ensure the Core Team is aware of these issues.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Qualification / Experience:

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree qualification.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position in national or International Organizations.
  • Should know all the basics of community mobilization.
  • 3+ years’ experience in international development or related field.
  • Experience in programme and financial management.
  • Good team working and communications skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and an ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Proven ability to represent the organization in dealings with external clients.
  • Strong team-working skills.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in developing, implementing and evaluating programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Excellent writing ability, strong interpersonal, group facilitation and oral presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams, as well as, working independently with minimum supervision.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Salary
N100,000 - N200,000 monthly.
