Monument Distillers Nigeria Limited (MDN) launched in Nigeria in March 2019 with the acquisition of the 1960 Rootz Bitters brand and the state-of-the-art manufacturing plant. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, moving Rootz’ production facility to Lagos.

Job Position: Quality Control Specialist

Job Location: Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Description


  • We are seeking a dynamic individual to join and lead our Quality Assurance/Control Team who will be responsible for the Quality Control and Food Safety function of MDN.
  • The person in this role will report to the Plant Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate will have the following:

  • To carry out all Quality Control analyses in line with the production schedule.
  • Develop, implement, and comply with MDN Quality and Food Safety policy/statements.
  • Drive and implement Food safety policies and procedures on site and ensure the site is compliant with legislation
  • Provide Quality support for all ongoing NPD projects in the factory/organization
  • Ensure Zero Trade recall
  • Responsible for MDN Quality KPI update.
  • Conduct internal audit schedule in line with ISO9001 and ISO 22000.
  • Develop and Validate Method protocols for Analysis and review procedures for benchmarking best practices.
  • Develop and lead the Quality Control Team; on Quality Control protocols, use of equipment and analytical procedures, etc.
  • Ensure suppliers audit are carried out as schedule

Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of HND / B.Sc. in Industrial and Environmental Chemistry from any reputable institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience in the manufacturing industry in similar roles.
  • Professional Qualification in Food Safety, and is a registered Food Safety Lead Auditor (with about 3 years experience)
  • Broad knowledge of Food Safety / industrial manufacturing systems and practices is a prerequisite.
  • Experience of FMCG activities, its systems, and its personnel.
