Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Summary
- The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the supervision and control of all financial aspects associated with construction and maintenance projects.
- Collaborates closely with project teams, procurement professionals, contractors, and various project stakeholders to guarantee the efficient and economical execution of projects.
- The responsibilities cover cost estimation, procurement management, contract administration, and vigilant financial monitoring, all aimed at ensuring project timely and budget-conscious completion.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation: Accurately assess project costs by conducting detailed quantity take-offs and preparing bills of quantities (BOQs). Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify cost implications and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Contract Management: Administer contracts and agreements with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions. Manage change orders, variations, and claims to control project costs.
- Value Engineering: Engage in value engineering initiatives to maximize project value while minimizing costs. Evaluate alternative construction methods and materials to enhance project efficiency.
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, assess the quality of work, and verify that work is according to contract specifications and drawings.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized project records, including all financial documents, contracts, change orders, and correspondence. Ensure proper
- Procurement: Collaborate with procurement teams to source materials, services, and subcontractors at competitive prices. Evaluate supplier bids and negotiate favourable terms to optimize project budgets.
- Financial Monitoring: Track project expenses and maintain comprehensive cost reports. Identify cost variances and deviations from budget, and propose corrective actions as needed. Assist in preparing project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication: Foster strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors. Provide regular updates on project cost status and participate in project meetings.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and uncertainties related to project costs and develop risk mitigation strategies. Implement cost control measures to minimize financial risks.
- Compliance: Stay current with industry regulations, construction codes, and best practices. Ensure that projects adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements for documentation of project-related activities.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience.
- Master’s degree in construction management.
- Certified Project Manager PRINCE 2 practitioner.
- Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) Quantity Surveyor’s Registration Board of Nigeria.
- Professional Member Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors
- Certified HSE Level 3 Professional.
