Job Position: Risk Manager
Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description
- The Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within Winock Lending.
- This role involves developing and implementing risk management policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- The Risk Manager will work closely with senior management to safeguard the institution's assets and ensure its long-term stability and profitability.
Responsibilities
Risk Identification and Assessment:
- Identify potential risks (financial, operational, credit, market, legal, and compliance) that could impact the institution.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and analyze the institution’s risk exposure.
- Develop and maintain a risk register to document identified risks and their mitigation measures.
Risk Mitigation and Management:
- Develop and implement risk management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and manage the institution’s risk profile, ensuring it remains within approved risk appetite and tolerance levels.
- Recommend risk mitigation measures and control enhancements to senior management.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements and ensure the institution’s policies and procedures are compliant.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies and participate in regulatory audits and inspections.
Credit Risk Management:
- Oversee the credit risk management process, including credit risk assessment, loan approval, and portfolio monitoring.
- Implement credit risk models and scoring systems to evaluate and mitigate credit risk.
- Monitor the performance of the loan portfolio and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Operational Risk Management:
- Identify and assess operational risks within the institution’s processes and systems.
- Develop and implement controls to mitigate operational risks and improve process efficiency.
- Conduct regular operational risk assessments and audits.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present risk management reports to senior management and the board of directors.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of risk management activities, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of risk-related information.
Training and Awareness:
- Provide training and support to staff on risk management policies and procedures.
- Foster a risk-aware culture within the institution by promoting risk management best practices.
- Conduct risk awareness programs and workshops for employees.
Crisis Management and Business Continuity:
- Develop and maintain the institution’s crisis management and business continuity plans.
- Coordinate crisis response activities and ensure effective communication during crises.
- Conduct regular tests and drills to ensure readiness for potential disruptions.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or similar are preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of [5] years of experience in risk management, preferably in the financial services or microfinance sector.
- Experience in credit risk assessment, operational risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent understanding of risk management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in risk management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
