Sonia Foods Industries is one of the leading tomato products processing factories in West Africa. Its headquarter is located in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, KM 39. The company produces Tomato Mix, Peppe & Onion Tomato Seasoning Mix, Curry Powder and Thyme Leaves, under the brand name Sonia. The factory is located in Ikorodu Shagamu Express Road, Onigbagbe/Sotubo Village, Shagamu Ogun State, Nigeria.

Job Description


  • The Senior Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire fleet operation for an FMCG and e-commerce business.
  • This role ensures efficient transportation management, cost control, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while maintaining high service levels.
  • The ideal candidate has extensive experience in fleet management, logistics, and distribution within fast-paced industries.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Optimization

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, and route planning.
  • Monitor and analyze fleet performance using data-driven insights to improve delivery efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure timely vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
  • Implement technology-driven solutions such as GPS tracking, telematics, and fleet management software.

Cost Management & Budgeting:

  • Prepare and manage the fleet budget, ensuring cost efficiency in fuel consumption, vehicle leasing, and maintenance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate contracts with suppliers, leasing companies, and maintenance providers.
  • Monitor fleet-related expenses and take proactive measures to control operational costs.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure full compliance with local and international transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Implement safety training programs for drivers to enhance road safety and minimize accident risks.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for vehicles, licenses, insurance, and compliance reports.

Team Leadership & Performance Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of fleet supervisors, coordinators, and drivers to ensure high performance and accountability.
  • Develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the fleet team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement best practices to improve efficiency and service levels.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with the supply chain, logistics, warehouse, and customer service teams to enhance delivery operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers, leasing companies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues and improve service delivery.

Key Requirements
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation, preferably in FMCG or e-commerce industries.
  • Proven track record of managing large fleets and optimizing transportation operations.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and route optimization tools.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to drive operational improvements.
  • Budgeting and cost-control expertise.
  • In-depth understanding of transport regulations, compliance, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Fleet Management, Logistics, or Transportation.
  • Experience in implementing automation and digital transformation in fleet operations.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives in fleet management (e.g., electric vehicles, fuel efficiency).
