A Snapshot of Your Day

  • The Service Technician becomes part of the service center team in Port Harcourt and executes under the supervision of repair engineers and the workshop supervisor various disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair and reassembly activities on rotating equipment like compressors, steam turbines, power turbines, blowers etc. on Siemens Energy and other manufacturer’s equipment.
  • Further to that the same work is being done on seals, valves or gear boxes.
  • The service technician is expected to follow work packages as prepared by the repair engineer.

How You'll Make an Impact 

  • Perform assembly, disassembly and inspection of equipment with little supervision
  • Recognize equipment problems and help to determine solutions before completing assembly
  • Clean and wash parts
  • Follow technical manual instructions along overhaul and maintenance standards
  • Perform mechanical works according to provided work instructions
  • Prepare reports and interpret simple drawings with minimum assistance
  • Calibrate and used product and manufacturing information
  • Follow and use material safety data sheet and appropriate EHS policies
  • Perform conditional evaluation of compressors, turbines as well as valves or its parts using general and specific technical guidelines, experience and visual and technical tools e.g. balancing machines and test stands
  • Support repair engineers to prepare repair proposals based on the evaluation findings
  • Support service team in front of clients with technical details
  • Perform final tests test stands sometimes in front of clients
  • Execute all activities in compliance with local and corporate rules and regulations
  • Execute all activities in a timely manner with high focus on quality and cost effectiveness
  • Overtime and after hour duty involved
  • Occasionally repair activities are executed at client location and require overnight stays
  • Occasionally remove or install compressors, turbines as well as valves or it’s individual parts at client side if required and require overnight stays
  • Be familiar with the basic skills in assembly mechanic about milling, plane and so on.
  • To do simple tool making / machining job on mechanical parts
  • To do assemble, commissioning, disassemble and maintenance job on tooling machines (mechanical part) and fixtures
  • Be able to compile assembly criterion
  • Obey the EHS policy, safety regulars and safety operating procedures
  • Receive EHS training & education given by the company to enhance the safety awareness

Specific Requirements

  • Good understanding on mechanical drawings.
  • To have medium level tool making skills.
  • Have the work certificate in assembly mechanic.
  • More than two years work experience of assembly mechanic.
  • Mathematical skills include adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Adding and subtracting in all units of measure, including time, volume, weight and distance using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to use measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Ability to understand and follow management and supervisory directives
  • Knowledge and experience of industrial and shipboard equipment

What You Bring

  • Formal Degree as Industrial Mechanic or comparable and minimum of 5 years’ experience as mechanic for compressors, turbines as well as valves
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble compressors, turbines as well as valves following work instructions without further supervision
  • Ability to use and operate measurement and test equipment, e.g. test stands and other performance evaluation equipment; the ability to operate balancing machines would be an added benefit
  • Ability to evaluate the condition of a compressors, turbines as well as valves or its individual parts and report inspection results to the repair engineer
  • Write simple inspection and repair reports for internal use
  • English speaking and writing
  • Experience with MS Word and MS Excel, ability to work with digital applications e.g. to record inspection results
  • Ability to work offsite in support of field service from time to time
  • Ability to act professionally in front of clients and other business associates
  • Available for weekend and evening call out for emergency maintenance work
