Job Summary


  • The Site Safety Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of personnel on Torupere Nigeria Limited's project sites.
  • This role requires a proactive and vigilant individual who can enforce safety protocols, monitor compliance with HSE standards, and respond effectively to potential hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety checks and inspections on project sites to identify and address potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and violations of HSE standards.
  • Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures and enforce corrective measures when necessary.
  • Report any incidents, near-misses, accidents, and safety violations to the HSE Manager and relevant project personnel.
  • Provide on-site safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks for site personnel to raise awareness of HSE procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and other relevant HSE documentation.
  • Support emergency response and first aid procedures on-site as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of personnel in emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in site safety roles, preferably within the oil and gas industry, with a proven track record of enforcing safety standards and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is required.
  • Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify potential hazards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey safety information and enforce compliance.
