Background

E-waste Producer Responsibility Organization (EPRON) is an industry-led non-Governmental and not-for-profit Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) incorporated in March 2018. The raison detre of the organization is to coordinate the environmentally sound management of electronic waste (e-waste) in Nigeria and like all other PROs to provide a level playing platform for Producers, Collectors, Recyclers and liaison with Regulators while implementing the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). EPRON is therefore responsible for facilitating product take back and making arrangements for the treatment of products according to the prescribed regulatory guidelines.

Role Goal:

We seek to hire a technical Manager to lead the fulfillment of the aspiration of EPRON’s technical unit, which is to apply circular economy principles to minimize e-waste and ensure the effective implementation of product take back and environmentally sound management of e-waste in Nigeria.

The technical unit is therefore responsible for developing and coordinating the successful implementation of e-waste collection across the country and ensuring that e-waste is recycled according to prescribed regulatory standards.

Job Description

Provides strategic direction and coordinate the successful delivery of all the activities of the technical unit which includes:

• Liaising with technical partners and consultants, towards the actualization of the EPR program and ensure the effective collection of e-waste across the country.
• Domesticating international best practices in the collection and recycling of EEE in the Country
• Directing, coordinating and supervising the collection and recycling of EEE, on behalf of the producers registered with EPRON.
• Meeting the national collection and recycling targets set for the organization for different regions of the Country
• Working with Collectors to develop and implement innovative collection approaches
• Where necessary develop and makes presentations to educate the public on how to recycle e-waste and the environmental advantages of recycling
• Supervising members within the value chain to ensure that existing organizational and statutory operational standards are met
• Coordinating effective delivery of collection and recycling schedules to optimize service and efficiency and verifying e-waste collection and recycling data for payment
• Implementing grant-funded projects, monitoring, and reporting progress in accordance with sponsoring agency requirements
  Investigating violations of e-waste collection and recycling ordinances
• Inspecting the physical condition of recycling or hazardous waste facility for compliance with safety, quality, and service standards.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications:

Education: B.Sc. degree in an Engineering, Biological or Physical Science based course from an accredited Institution.

Post-graduate degree in related field or professional qualification desirable.

Experience: 5-8 year(s) experience with three years in progressive leadership role required
