We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Accountant
Job Location: Lagos

Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the microfinance bank.
• Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Generate financial reports for management, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities on time.

Audit and Internal Controls:

• Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the bank’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.

Accounts Reconciliation:

• Perform regular reconciliation of all bank accounts, loan accounts, and other ledger accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Tax Management:

• Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with tax regulations.
• Ensure timely payment of all taxes and liaise with tax authorities as needed.

Cost Management:

• Monitor and control operating expenses.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support cost-saving initiatives.

Support Financial Operations:

• Assist in managing the bank’s cash flow and liquidity.
• Support the loan disbursement and recovery processes by providing accurate financial data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of  accounting experience, preferably in the microfinance banking sector is compulsory.
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAN) is required.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
