Job Position: Accounts Officer (Cost Accounting)
Job Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Analyze and monitor company expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting models, tools, and processes.
- Prepare and present detailed cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare and update documentation of cost accounting policies and procedures.
- Carry out other assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather cost data and validate financial information.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing insights to optimize spending.
- Assist in the implementation of cost control measures and process improvements.
- Collect cost information and maintain an expenses database.
- Plan and record variable costs (purchases of raw material and operations costs)
- Review Standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
- Prepare budgeting reports for the company reflecting each department.
- Analyze and report profit margins.
- Prepare - monthly, quarterly and annual cost forecasts.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing.
- Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions.
Skills and Qualifications
- B.Sc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, finance.
- Must be ICAN or ACCA certified or undergoing diets and process of getting certified.
- Experience with account management software such as Sage, Quckbooks, Zoho, etc. is a plus.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial data, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
- Uphold high ethical standards, by ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
