We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Civil Engineer
Job Location: Umuahia, Abia
Employment Type: Full-time


Key Responsibilities
Site Management & Supervision:

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day site construction activities.
  • Interpret construction drawings and ensure execution in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and standards.
  • Monitor workforce productivity and ensure compliance with project timelines.

Project Planning & Execution:

  • Assist in project scheduling, resource planning, and progress tracking.
  • Identify potential delays or risks and proactively suggest mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that all structural works are carried out with technical accuracy and efficiency.

Quality Assurance & Control:

  • Conduct inspections to ensure that materials and workmanship comply with project standards.
  • Prepare and maintain quality control checklists and documentation.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC personnel to resolve non-conformities.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure HSE compliance on site.
  • Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments.
  • Promote a culture of safety among workers and subcontractors.

Technical Documentation:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Maintain site records including work permits, test results, and as-built drawings.
  • Liaise with consultants, architects, and clients to resolve technical issues.

Procurement & Resource Coordination:

  • Estimate material quantities and raise material requisitions.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Manage equipment and tools inventory.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Participate in site meetings and report on project status.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on building or infrastructure projects.
  • Registered with a recognized engineering body (e.g., COREN, etc.)
  • Proficient in civil engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, MS Project, etc.).
  • Familiar with project management tools and site reporting systems.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of structural design principles and construction methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and BOQs.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Time management and ability to work under pressure.
  • Commitment to high standards of safety and quality.
