About the Role

  • We seek a curriculum specialist to spearhead the curriculum design and related learning functions at AltSchool Africa. With a focus on enriching our students' learning experience.
  • As our Curriculum Specialist, you'll be crucial in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating our curriculum. You'll collaborate with the Director of Learning and Academics, as well as other stakeholders, to drive exciting curricular initiatives and projects.
  • Your efforts will focus on enhancing the quality of education our learners receive and fostering continuous improvement at AltSchool Africa

What You Will Be Doing

  • Research on pedagogical best practices and the future of work in Africa/Globally. Use these findings to design curriculum for new content across all programs, to enhance the quality of learning experiences at AltSchool Africa.
  • Stay informed about current global educational trends, pedagogical strategies, and best practices, and adeptly integrate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and resources into the curriculum.
  • Work with the technical program manager to create and implement a strong professional development program for instructors. The program provides ongoing training to instructors, enhancing their capabilities to facilitate all learning outcomes.
  • Ensure that our curriculum aligns with international educational standards, goals, and learning objectives.
  • Systematically plan and execute curriculum reviews by identifying areas for revision, making data-driven recommendations, and implementing approved changes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and experts to design, implement, and update our curriculum
  • Work with the technical program manager to create assessment tools and evaluation criteria that align with curriculum objectives and standards, ensuring the effectiveness of the curriculum.
  • Analyze data and feedback to make data-driven recommendations on the curriculum.
  • Represent the curriculum & learning experience design team at mid-level stakeholder meetings, sharing reports appropriately with the director, learning & academics.
  • Collaborate with the technical program manager to ensure the LMS is deployed to promote the delivery of quality education and learning experiences for all learners. 

Requirements
What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in any K-16 educational institution
  • A good understanding of educational standards, pedagogical methods, and curriculum development
  • Qualitative and quantitative research skills
  • Strong design thinking skills, mindset, and professional judgment
  • Progressive team player
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstration of commitment to global best practices in the education and EdTech ecosystems.
