Job Position: Data Engineering Manager

Job Location: Lagos

The Position

• We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team in building and optimizing scalable data infrastructure.
• This role requires deep expertise in AWS services, data pipelines, cost management, and modern data engineering tools. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient data processing, storage, and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, driving best practices in data architecture and engineering.
• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines using AWS
• Implement cost-effective and efficient AWS data infrastructure, leveraging best practices for cost management and performance optimization.
• Oversee data storage, processing, and security across databases like Postgres, Oracle, and SQL.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business teams to understand data needs and develop highly available, reliable, and scalable data solutions.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance, implementing robust monitoring and validation mechanisms.
• Stay updated on emerging data engineering trends, recommending new technologies to improve efficiency and scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Expertise in AWS data services
• Strong knowledge of cost optimization strategies for AWS-based data pipelines and storage.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Scala, with strong ETL and data modeling experience.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, NoSQL and SQL databases.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in fintech or digital lending is a plus.
