Egbin Power Plc is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs. Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Description

  • The electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems, performing routine inspections, and ensuring all protection relays and associated accessories function correctly.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing and supervising preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the availability, reliability, and safe operation of assets across the electrical asset groups. 
  • Ensure all plant patrols are executed as assigned daily. 
  • Execute breakdown/corrective maintenance as assigned daily.
  • Awareness, understanding and application of departmental /process objectives.
  • Awareness of contribution to the effectiveness of the IMS, including the benefits of improved performance. 
  • Awareness of the risks of not conforming with the EGBIN IMS requirements. 
  • Ensure safety guidelines and safe work procedures are strictly adhered to on and off maintenance activities. 
  • Ensure the summary of breakdown/corrective maintenance activities is reported on IBM Maximo daily as assigned. 
  • Compile maintenance reports and ensure prompt submission of the reports. 
  • Monitor and oversee all jobs executed by third parties to ensure timely close out, quality, and within the scope of work. • Awareness, understanding and application of Quality & HSE policies on assigned jobs.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all company codes of conduct. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Engineers/Team Leads and Section Head.

Education and Work Experience
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Membership of NSE, MNATE, and COREN registration is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Understanding of working of equipment and history of equipment.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures for maintenance of the main plant, transformers etc.
  • Technical troubleshooting and ability to identify the root cause of problems to avoid recurrence.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspects of power generation.
  • Knowledge of the power generation process and commercial and tariff aspects.
  • Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spare inventory management.
  • Knowledge of statutory guidelines related to electrical equipment Knowledge of Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Technical report writing.
