Job Position: Finance Manager

Job Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • As the Finance Manager, you’ll be the cornerstone of the company’s financial health and compliance.
  • This role involves managing day-to-day financial operations, creating robust budgeting processes, and ensuring adherence to local tax laws.
  • You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide strategic financial insights that support decision-making and drive business growth.

Your Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities:

  • You will provide leadership and direction for all financial functions within the company.
  • You will develop and oversee accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring robust financial operations.
  • You will set up and manage the company’s budgeting process in collaboration with business unit heads.
  • You will analyze company operations with the CEO to identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvement.
  • You will offer insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • You will manage financial aspects of employee benefit and compensation plans in partnership with HR.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • You will oversee daily financial operations, including cash flow management, expense controls, and financial reporting.
  • You will ensure full compliance with statutory authorities, tax regulations, and audit requirements.
  • You will prepare and analyze annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow).
  • You will evaluate investment opportunities that align with liquidity and return requirements.
  • You will implement systems to enhance cash management and reduce operational costs.
  • You will liaise with external advisors for the preparation of statutory accounts and tax computations (VAT and company tax).
  • You will monitor company assets, ensuring accurate accountability and optimal utilization.
  • You will drive profit improvement initiatives, particularly in restaurant operations.
  • You will participate in strategic planning sessions and provide financial expertise for long-term projects.

Requirements
To be considered for this role you should have:

  • A First Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 8 years of cognate experience, including 4 years in a similar role within the hospitality sector.
  • Proficiency in financial management, risk management, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CFA, ICAN, or ACCA are mandatory.
  • Demonstrable skills in leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Expertise in cash flow management and financial performance reporting.
  • Strong grasp of management accounting and financial planning processes.
  • Familiarity with tax compliance and risk management practices.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Results-oriented with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
