Finance Officer Job at Sheriff Aid Foundation (SAF)

Sheriff Aid Foundation (SAF) is a national humanitarian and developmental organization that is non-profit; non-governmental and non-political currently active in the north-eastern Nigeria. SAF was founded in February 2007 and formally registered with Corporate Affairs Commission Nigeria in August 2018 with the aim to improving the life of vulnerable and less privileged focusing on children and women through protection, education, livelihood improvement, food security as well as strengthening the resilience of the affected population due to conflict and natural disaster especially those in the rural areas.


SAF activities are integrated with focus on education, camp coordination and management, provision of shelter and NFIs, waste management, food security, skills acquisition training, awareness creation, networking and, community involvement and participation. Our activities are mainly carried out through grassroots mobilization and networking. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Finance Officer

Job Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Job Description
The finance officer will engage in the following activities of the organization:

  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of organizational products and process
  • Develop a project budget that outlines the costs associated with shelter and NFI distribution activities, and ensure that the project remains within the approved budget.
  • Prepare regular financial reports that provide information on the project's financial status and progress to project managers and donors.
  • Monitor project spending and ensure that expenses are in line with the approved budget, and identify and report any potential financial risks or irregularities.
  • Prepare for and participate in project audits and evaluations, providing financial documentation and support as needed.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets
  • Being a key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters
  • Supporting the Finance Manager and executives with projects and tasks when required
  • Ensure that project finances are managed in compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements and local regulations.
  • Work with project staff to build their financial management skills and knowledge, and provide training and support as needed.
  • Managing and processing records, receipts and invoices
  • Reconciling daily, monthly and yearly transactions.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Banking and Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or any other relevant field of study with at least 3 years of relevant experience working with Humanitarian organizations.
