We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Fleet Manager
Job Location: Ekiti
Job type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Acquisition and Management:
- Researching and selecting appropriate heavy-duty vehicles based on load capacity, terrain, fuel efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Negotiating with dealers of spare parts for optimal pricing and terms.
- Managing vehicle specifications and customization.
- Implementing vehicle tracking and telematics systems.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Developing comprehensive maintenance schedules for heavy-duty equipment
- Managing relationships with repair shops and parts suppliers.
- Overseeing major overhauls and component replacements.
- Implementing preventive maintenance programs to extend vehicle life.
Driver Management:
- Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising drivers.
- Enforcing strict safety standards and compliance with hours-of-service regulations.
- Conducting driver performance evaluations and providing feedback.
- Managing driver schedules and routes for optimal efficiency.
- Ensure drivers adhere to safety protocols and company policies.
Cost Control and Optimization:
- Analyzing fuel consumption and implementing strategies to improve efficiency.
- Monitoring repair and maintenance costs to identify areas for reduction.
- Negotiating favorable rates with carriers and suppliers.
- Implementing telematics to optimize routes and reduce idle time.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations for heavy-duty vehicles.
- Conducting regular vehicle inspections and safety audits.
- Managing accident investigations and claims.
- Implementing driver safety training programs.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in transportation laws and regulations.
- Ensure all vehicles have the necessary licenses, permits, and insurance.
Additional Responsibilities:
Load Management:
- Ensuring proper load distribution and securing to prevent damage to vehicles and cargo.
- Complying with weight restrictions and regulations.
Inventory Management:
- Managing spare parts and equipment inventory.
Risk Management:
- Developing contingency plans for breakdowns and emergencies.
- Implementing insurance policies to protect the fleet and company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in fleet management.
- Proven experience as a Fleet Manager in a similar or a similar role, preferably agribusiness.
- Experience with fleet management software and Global Positioning System (GPS).
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Relevant certification in fleet management (e.g. Certified Fleet Manager (CAFM)) is a plus.
