Teerus Microfinance Bank is a Newly established tier 1 unit microfinance bank, Located in Surulere, Lagos. As a microfinance bank, we provide financial services to micro, small and medium enterprises both formal and informal, and to underserved individuals who require affordable loans.

Job Summary


  • The Head of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the financial management, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance of Teerus Microfinance Bank.
  • The role requires strong leadership in financial reporting, risk management, budgeting, and internal controls to ensure the bank's financial health and sustainability.
  • The ideal candidate will provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the bank’s overall objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management for informed decision-making.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and investment strategies to ensure long-term stability.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to track performance, identify trends, and provide insights.

  • Ensure the timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure full compliance with financial regulations, including CBN guidelines, IFRS standards, and Nigerian tax laws.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and filings.
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Budgeting & Cost Management:

  • Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget to ensure effective financial planning.
  • Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
  • Implement cost-control measures to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

Internal Controls & Financial Governance:

  • Develop and implement robust financial controls and policies to safeguard the bank’s assets.
  • Establish procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and prevent fraud.
  • Monitor financial transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team to enhance performance and ensure alignment with the bank’s strategic goals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial objectives with operational goals.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CFA is required.
  • Minimum of 8–15 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the banking or microfinance sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, Nigerian tax laws, and IFRS standards.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning.
