1.) Automation / Instrumentation Technician

About the Job


  • Responsible for routine maintenance of all instruments and automation equipment.
  • Monitor and report spare availability and consumption pattern to avoid nil-stock for all spare parts.
  • Carry out Minor modifications to support the production process and recommend replacement for obsolete spares.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with process control systems including programmable logic controllers, sensors and actuators
  • Consult manuals, read and interprete circuit diagrams and schematics for installed instrumentation and automation equipment
  • Repair and adjust system components or remove and replace defective parts
  • Installing control and measurement instruments on existing or new plant equipments
  • Inspect and test operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments
  • Repair and adjust system components such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers or remove and replace defective parts
  • Maintenance of both analog and digital field instruments such as level, pressure, position, limit, speed, temperature, flow, and weight sensors, actuators and gas analysers
  • Calibrate field instruments such as weigh feeders, beltscales, as well as level pressure, temperature transmitters, and flow meters according to manufacturers specifications or business best practices.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete pre-start up test and generate maintenance reports
  • Install control and measurement instrument on existing and new plant equipment and processes under the supervision of the automation/ instrumentation engineer
  • Use the SAP to facilitate proper scheduling, planning of work, and execution; respecting safety of equipment and people in the plant
  • Consult with Central Room Operators for diagnosis of field instrument faults to minimize downtime
  • Support the installation, modification, testing and operation of automation and instrumentation systems and generate document reports for tasks carried out
  • Troubleshoot failures with process control system involving electrical and mechanical equipment and instrument
  • Record and report specific electrical energy consumed in all shops accross the plant on a daily basis
  • Carry out regular scheduled inspection of the field instrument and generate report
  • Facilitate communications and relationships:
    • Attends departmental meetings as and when called
    • Supports management policies
    • Communicates results and challenges within the department to the automation/instrumentation engineer.

  • Safety: To liais with safety offier for accident and prevention and inform about any problem that may occur on the clinker plant

  • External bodies: SEFA, TASQ.

Context

  • Ensures the efficient use of energy on the clinker production plant and the cement mills.
  • Ensures safety of plant and personnel and ensure the protection of the environment in compliance with ISO 14001.
  • Size:
    • One 800tpd capacity precalciner kild
    • Two 195tph finish mills with roller press
  • Support proximity: support by CTC.

Qualifications
Level of Education:

  • HND / Bsc in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics or Physics as main subject).

2.) Patroller

About the Job 

  • Patroller objective is to through a complete working knowledge of the manufacturing equipment and process, serve as the production inspector for the operation.
  • Participate in planned shutdown and running maintenance of all plants safely and efficiently. Starts up equipment, troubleshoots problems and takes corrective actions to maximize the efficient operation of the Plant.
  • Patroller is responsible for the smooth operation and general housekeeping of all production shops.

What you'll be doing

  • Performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Carry out equipment energy isolation according to LOTOTO procedure
  • Performs field checks and troubleshoot all aspects of raw mill, kiln and finish mill systems in compliance with Company quality standards and requirements.
  • Conduct running and shutdown inspection of all equipment for defects, drift and report such problems to the CCRO for attention and action.
  • Write shift report and complete patroller inspection checklist to indicate solved problems and outstanding issues on the plant.
  • Monitors equipment operation and solves problems throughout the plant as required including process drift, preheater blockage e.t.c
  • Performs first level maintenance activities throughout the plant as required in order to maximize equipment operation and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Coordinates activities of mobile plant operators and other contracted services to assure adequate supply of process-related materials as required.
  • Operates the individual equipments on test mode when such equipments are on maintenance.
  • Assist CCRO in the operation of key equipments in local mode.
  • Assists CCRO in the management of off-spec products.
  • Carry out diaphragm slots cleaning for finish mills on maintenance days.
  • Carry out ball mill media loading according to the process engineer’s recommendations.
  • Carry out test drilling of refractory lining and submit report to the CCRO for analysis.
  • Ensures smooth operation of plant air compressors and pneumatic conveyance systems.
  • Maintains good housekeeping standards in the plant.
  • Attends and contribute to safety toolbox meeting at the beginning of every shift and offer suggestions on safe work methods.
  • Implement Lafarge Safety Rules and Regulation in accordance with the Group HSE Standards and Advisories.
  • Monitors the operations and optimizes all aspects of raw mills, kiln system in compliance with the Company Quality Standards and Requirements.
  • Supervise the activities of the Contractors and Lafarge Third Party Operators through proper implementation of Lafarge Contractor Safety Management Standards (CSM)
  • Monitor Production activities to comply with Group Environmental Standards and maintain good housekeeping at all time.
  • Monitor the loading and off-loading of alternative fuel or other solid fuel in the plant
  • Inspect the equipment before and after usage in order to analyze the problem, and liase with Maintenance Department for corrective actions.
  • Carrying out first level inspection on all equipments and recommends steps to improve them.
  • Ensures Safety of Personnel and Equipment
  • Participate in Plant Turn - Around Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis and other Company Best Practices, Test drilling, Wrecking and Brick Laying Processes.
  • Contribute to maintaining equipment’s in good working condition through effective first level inspection and regularly monitoring of the equipments.
  • Comply with EMS Production Instrumentation activities
  • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of integrated management system in the plant.

What we are looking for

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical / Electrical engineering 
  • 2 - 5 years of postgraduate experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of cement making process, related equipment, and plant layout.
  • Complete familiarity with all material conveyance systems and methods
  • Aptitude for, and demonstrate ability in, wide variety of mechanical and electrical skills
  • Operates specialized equipment such as low gauge guns, power shots
  • Able to operate mobile equipment including Bobcat and forklift
  • Able to perform heavy lifting/physically demanding work for prolonged periods of time
  • Working knowledge of equipment operation procedure.
  • Able to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills for use with co-workers, truck drivers, completing reports, etc.

3.) Electrical Technician

About the Job

  • The job objective of the Electrical Technician is to ensure that maintenance and repairs activities are carried out on kiln Complex (MMD/Quarry, Raw Material Processing, VRM, Kiln, Grinding and Packing plants) and their associated auxiliaries according to detailed instructions.

What you'll be doing

  • Carry out routine inspection on the Kiln Complex, and their auxiliaries, organise for correction of observed defects (Dangling cables, sensors and instruments, damaged lighting fixtures, damaged panel door locks, broken emergency switches, broken cooling fans, record action taken in a daily shift report and inform his line manager
  • Organise, direct and control maintenance and repairs activities on plants and their auxiliaries utilising the human and material resources available to him.
  • Carry out periodic calibration/validation/verification as per schedule or as required to enhance equipment performance and document results
  • Monitor spare usage and advice his superior of spares requirement and ensure economic use of spares with a view to contributing to low maintenance cost.
  • Facilitate communications and relationships by: Attending departmental meetings regularly, Conveying department decisions to the subordinates and communicating results/feedback to the Electrical Instrumentation Engineer.
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time
  • Ensure application of work instructions by his subordinates and give feedback to his superior, suggesting improvements as may be necessary.
  • Ensure proper and effective handover of outstanding jobs/information on any plant to the night Shift Electrical Instrumentation Supervisor or Shift Coordinator.
  • Attend to Radio calls to solve Electrical instrument related problems on-running maintenance issues or production process & related issues
  • Ensures that maintenance works are carried out satisfactorily and within the set timeframe.
  • Guarantees the safety of the equipment and of the people working for him.
  • Promotes the quality of the work and motivates his personnel.
  • Ensure coordination and cooperation between his and other departments.
  • The work environment of the job is the Kiln Complex plant, Quarry, Grinding and Packing plants.

Safety:

  • Ensure safe practices and safety of equipment and personnel within and around his work area by strict compliance to LOTOTO. Ensure Proper Housekeeping in the MCCs (ER158, 348, 438, AF, dual firing, Transformer Pens, Cable cellars and Electrical Instrumentation Supervisor’s office and workshop) All Electrical Panels cablings, lighting board, domestic and industrial sockets, Junction boxes to be arranged properly and doors are locked all the time.
  • Inspect, organise, record and correct any defect on electrical hand tools equipment, lighting fittings, dangling cable, damaged lighting fixtures, damaged panel door lock, broken emergency switches, broken cooling fans and  cable joint.

IMS:

  • Comply with EMS Electrical Instrumentation job functions at Kiln 2
  • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of integrated management system in the plant.

Who you'll be working with
Internal:

  • The Production Supervisors: To receive equipment and give clearance after the job is completed.
  • The Maintenance execution (Mechanical and Automation): To coordinate the common jobs and during isolation
  • The Stores Department: receiving and placing order for spare parts, issuance of replacement parts and consumables items of any
  • The Methods Department: To receive the Work Order to be done and send the WO completed.
  • The Safety Coordinator: To inform about any safety disrespect (accident, risk point, e.t.c).

External:

  • NGC.

What we are looking for

  • OND or FTC in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
  •  Minimum 2 years of professional experience

Technical Competencies:
