Job Description


  • Oversee procurement management of machines/spares.
  • Inventory Management.
  • Repair management.
  • Maintenance of all HEMMs operating in the running and new mining projects of the Group.
  • To maintain a minimum inventory, timely availability of spares for maintenance of HEMMs, interface between central procurement and mines.
  • Should have exposure to SAP and key focus on profitability and optimum utilisation of resources while ensuring the health and safety of maintenance staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, co-ordinate, and direct maintenance of machinery by spare management and external repair management by controlling and coordinating with mining sites from Head office.
  • Evaluate efficiency and adequacy of personnel, equipment and state of art technologies used, and make changes to work schedule or equipment when necessary.
  • Oversee the maintenance aspects of the operations and provide expertise as may be required.
  • Prepare HEMM availability reports for review by the Senior Management.
  • Monitor HEMM performance against budget and ensure that targets are met.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Director (M & G).

Requirements
Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of twenty (20) years of demonstrated operating experience in similar roles and maintenance practices.
  • Experience Level: Management level (AGM/DGM/GM level)

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of HEMM maintenance, inventory control, procurement process as well as health and safety management.
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance planning, equipment selection. Experience of identifying state of art HEMMs for a benign mining technology for a Greenfield project.
  • Clear understanding of the Environmental protection laws and statutory obligations.
  • Should have good managerial, communication and writing skills.
  • Commercial acumen and experience regarding how to maximise the financial returns of the project including the ability to manage contracts effectively and to compile and manage budgets and operating costs.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Commitment to implemented safety and environment regulations, good data gathering and analysis skills.
  • Baseline problem analysis and solving skills.
  • Creativity and an ability to think out of the box.
