Job Position: Operations Facilitator (WASH)
Job Location: Benue
Position type: Full-Time
Role Objectives
In particular, s / he will:
- Throughout supervision of the works, ensure that the contractors scope of work & our clients direct implementation portion are set to achieve comprehensively the goals of the WASH project of the construction, rehabilitation, upgrading, operation & maintenance of WASH facilities, including boreholes, latrines, showers & hand washing stations in project sites located in Borno state.
- Participate in the assessments & site selection for the constructions & installation of WASH facilities.
- Ensure site works are in line with site project plans & sphere standards.
- Assess the needs & resources of IDPs in terms of basic WASH needs with participation.
- Propose & assist in defining appropriate solutions & ensuring WASH projects meet needs.
- Support preparing the requests of the materials & verifying the technical specifications & quality delivered by suppliers & contractors.
- Assist in preparation of technical site layout & Bill of Quantities (BoQ's) for all planned WASH works.
- Conduct topographical survey & setting out of drainage lines.
- Effectively work together with other WASH sector partners in executing WASH emergency response activities at field level.
- Ensure WASH projects under development meet acceptable humanitarian standards, safeguarding as much as possible health, security & protection of the camp.
- Notify changes during project implementation ahead of time.
- Synergize & act as link between our clients WASH, shelter, DTM, PSS & the affected population at camp / community level.
- Submit daily, weekly & monthly reports on time using standard format.
- Any other task not listed above when requested by the supervisors
- Project reporting
- This role works under the overall supervision of the WASH Program Manager & the direct supervision of the WASH Senior Program Assistant.
Key Competencies
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health or similar fields with a minimum of two years for university degree or four years for diploma.
- Experience in humanitarian field is mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity in performing responsibility assigned.
- Proactive & independent worker.
- Ability to prepare clear & concise reports.
- Fluency in English is required (oral & written) & working knowledge of any local languages is desirable.
- Respects & promotes individual & cultural differences. Encourages diversity & inclusion.
