Job Profile / Summary
- We seek an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our dynamic team at Noreta Constructions Limited. The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of our project teams and will be responsible for planning, coordinating and managing construction projects for our firm.
- This person is also responsible for coordinating all aspects of project management, as well as ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, quality standards, and safety regulations. Accountable for creating client satisfaction through ensuring that all projects are executed in accordance with contract documents and Noreta’s high-quality standards.
- Your responsibilities will include developing and managing project budgets, creating detailed schedules and overseeing resource allocation to ensure optimal execution. You will conduct regular site inspections, review construction plans and specifications, identify potential risks, implement proactive measures to mitigate them and verify that all the work is performed to the highest quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Developing and managing project schedules, budgets and resource allocations to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies, to facilitate successful project execution.
- Plan, coordinate and manage all phases of construction projects, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closeout.
- Establishing project objectives, scope and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and ensuring alignment with client requirements.
- Lead overall construction performance through project managers and project teams.
- Lead, enforce and ensure operational procedures and policies are established and maintained to ensure all project objectives are met, including scheduling, budget, and quality control.
- Establish, update, and communicate Master Project Schedule and manage its implementation.
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on project status to stakeholders. Also identify potential risks or issues, and implement proactive measures to mitigate delays and ensure project milestones are met.
Project Documentation and Evaluation:
- Evaluate and select contractors and subcontractors based on qualifications, experience and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage construction project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings and change orders.
- Conduct regular meetings to facilitate communication, address challenges and to meet project objectives.
- Provide regular updates and reports on project status, including milestones, budget updates, and any significant developments or risks.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
- Carry out thorough project evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary corrective measures.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Develop a high-performance team through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring. Ensure regular feedback is shared with staff including timely completion of employee performance appraisals.
- Liaising with architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to monitor construction progress, resolve issues and ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- In conjunction with Head, Human Resources, establish, develop and deliver a comprehensive training program based on project needs and statutory or local regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with project team members and stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns and foster strong working relationships, ensuring alignment of project objectives and priorities.
Client Relationship Management:
- Maintain regular communication and provide updates on project status, progress, and milestones to the management team and stakeholders.
- Build and nurture positive relationships with clients, addressing their needs, concerns, and expectations in a proactive and professional manner.
- Identify opportunities to add value and exceed client expectations, fostering long-term partnerships and repeat business opportunities.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards, conducting regular inspections and assessments to uphold project quality and safety.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements, prioritizing a safe working environment for all involved.
- Implement quality control measures and best practices to maintain high standards of workmanship and deliver exceptional quality on all projects.
- Address any quality or safety issues promptly, working closely with project teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
Budget Management and Financial Oversight:
- Develop, oversee and manage project budgeting and cost control, track expenses, and forecast financial performance for multiple projects, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and objectives and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Review project expenditures, change orders, and subcontractor invoices in accordance with established budgetary guidelines.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, optimizing project financial performance while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
Building Material Procurement and Delivery Coordination:
- Manage procurement processes, including bid evaluations, contract negotiations and vendor selection.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely sourcing and delivery of construction materials while minimizing waste and optimizing costs.
Constructions Project Site Inspections:

Conduct regular site inspections to assess project progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. A Master Degree will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction project management, with a track record of successfully delivering residential building construction projects on time and within budget.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes and safety regulations in the Nigeria context.
- Excellent project management skills, including effective planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, including project blueprints and construction schematics.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage project teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in construction management software, project scheduling tools and cost estimation software.
- Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and green building certifications.
- Applicant MUST reside in Abuja and close proximity to job location will be advantageous.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Professional certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) is mandatory.
- Knowledge of risk management and budget management principles.
- Experience in managing large-scale construction projects in India.
- Knowledge of local construction regulations, permits and approval processes.
- Proficiency in using Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.
- Experience with construction contract negotiations and claims management.
- Familiarity with lean construction principles and methodologies.
- Strong financial understanding and experience in project budgeting and cost control.

- Adept at resolving conflicts and promoting effective communication among team members to achieve shared objectives.
Client Relationship Management:
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs and ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded.
- Proficient in providing regular updates, addressing client concerns promptly, and maintaining transparency throughout project lifecycles.
Building Material Procurement and Delivery Coordination:
- Expertise in sourcing high-quality materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery to meet project timelines.
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics to streamline procurement processes and prevent delays in construction activities.
