Pan African Towers Limited, is a telecommunications infrastructure and wireless service facilitator. We made our debut on the African continent, starting with initial business operations in Nigeria, in 2017; we will soon have operations in Ghana, and Liberia. We now have close to a thousand towers and operate in every city in Nigeria. We have an aggressive growth plan to reach all parts of Africa and aim to deploy up to thirty-five thousand (35,000) towers, within the next five years to help bridge the broadband coverage gap in Africa.

Job Description
Leadership:

  • Responsible for translating PAT strategic objectives into actionable operational plans detailing clear implementation roadmap and milestones at the assigned region.
  • Develop and implement goals to improve the regional performance on power availability, including power equipment performance and tower maintenance.

Team Development:

  • Thoroughly understand and communicate requirements to appropriate team members and manage all requirements accordingly to each stakeholder.
  • Ensure team members have the needed tools and provide timely feedback.
  • Provide mentoring to all subordinates.
  • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
  • Ensure all teams are practicing the principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
  • Appraise the performance of individual team members, identify skill gap, and recommend training as per the organizational set processes.

Operations:
Diesel Management:

  • Validate the diesel consumption, share diesel allocation, and identify any changes in the allocation plan.
  • Interface with the Diesel Coordinator and Supplier in the case of deviation in the quantity and quality of diesel supply to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Receive reports from SDSs in the region on diesel delivery and confirm the need for diesel intervention, if any.
  • Report sites in the region with critical diesel levels 7 days in advance to the Head of Operations and Diesel Coordinator to prevent outages.  
  • Track diesel level through RMS and report discrepancies to the Diesel Coordinator.
  • Ensure bi-annual scheduled tank cleaning, annual tank painting, and tank calibration.

Ensure the site security for:
Power Availability:

  • Responsible for power availability for the region as per the Tenant SLA on-site uptime.
  • Drive the MS vendor and SDS to achieve the target MTTR.
  • Take proactive corrective measures to reduce fault count and repeat fault incidents.
  • Suggest measures to increase the power availability on sites by converting sites to on-grid sites and provisioning of secondary power sources.

Site Maintenance:

  • Drive MS vendor on all issues arising from deviations in the site maintenance plan and trigger the maintenance intervention for both routine and non-routine maintenance processes.
  • Validate JCC for all maintenance work carried out within the region. Initiate the request for materials for site maintenance and validate the GRN.
  • Ensure that MS vendor carries out periodic Janitorial and clearing foliage to maintain a safe perimeter in every site in the region
  • Responsible for RMS equipment in sites within the region.
  • Responsible for site delivery to tenants for SO closure.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and stakeholders in the region.
  • Ensure that the field operations engineers effectively carry out their responsibilities and ensure the smooth running of the operations.
  • Provide input into continuous development of site maintenance processes.

Tower Maintenance:

  • Tower Audit: Ensure biannual tower audit
  • Regular inspections: Spot checks on tower structures and foundations to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Ensure periodic Cleaning and painting of towers in the region to protect the structure.
  • Grounding and bonding: Verifying proper grounding and bonding to ensure safety and prevent damage.
  • Regulatory compliance with regulations: Ensure that the site adheres to industry standards, safety protocols, and regulations.

Community and LL issue Management:

  • Coordination with Landlord, community, and SAQ to get 24 X 7 access to the site
  • Foster positive relations with Landlord and Community to resolve issues related to site access

New Site Rollout / Site Modification:

  • Ensure completion of work related to the new site rollout as per project timelines  
  • Ensure capacity expansion to accommodate new colocation service order requests
  • Validate and sign off JCC for civil and electrical work done in the sites within the region

General Duties:

  • Submit reports to the Head of Operations in all matters relating to the region.
  • Promote communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow and to curb any problems that arise.
  • Manage relationships with tenants and MS vendors.
  • Perform duties assigned by the Head of Operations
  • Continually assess operational and business continuity risks and provide timely awareness as well as deploy mitigating initiatives.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, and high levels of service and promote continuous improvement efforts to drive repeated business and customer loyalty.
  • Effectively collaborate across functions (working in the matrix) to build joint objectives to reach regional goals

Requirements

  • 1st degree in Telecommunications/Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 5 years in Telecom operations and 10 years in the telecom industry
