Job Description


  • We seek a talented and passionate Social Media Manager to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing our social media strategy per our organisation's goals and objectives.
  • You will be crucial in raising awareness, engaging our audience, and driving action on climate change issues across various social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive social media strategy to increase engagement, followership, and brand awareness.
  • Create compelling and relevant content for various social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Collaborate with other teams to align social media strategies with overall organisational goals and campaigns.
  • Analyse social media metrics and performance data to track progress, optimise content, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor social media trends, tools, and applications and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase social media use at Climate Action Africa.
  • Manage all social media channels, including scheduling and publishing content, responding to comments and messages, and moderating discussions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media best practices, algorithms, and trends, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Increase in social media followership and engagement.
  • Growth in website traffic driven by social media channels.
  • Improvement in brand sentiment and reputation on social media platforms.
  • Increase in the number of leads or conversions generated through social media campaigns.
  • Achievement of specific campaign objectives, such as petition signatures, event attendance, or donations.
  • Improve social media metrics, including reach, impressions, likes, shares, and comments.

Required Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or similar role, with a track record of successful social media campaigns and initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in social media analytics tools.
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and website analytics tools.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging content.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for environmental sustainability and climate action.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiative when necessary.

  • The interview process is expected to take three weeks and will be conducted virtually, with an average time commitment of 1.5 hours.

Working Hours:

  • The standard working hours for this position are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm West Africa Time (WAT), for at least 40 hours per week.
