Job Position: Inventory Officer (Contract)

Job Summary

  • Our client is urgently seeking an experienced and reliable Inventory Officer for a short-term contract. 
  • The ideal candidate must be proactive, firm, and detail-oriented, with a proven track record in inventory and material management within the real estate or construction sector.

Scope of Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Stock Control:


  • Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels of construction materials and supplies to support ongoing project demands.
  • Record and track all inventory transactions including receipts, issues, and returns, ensuring real-time stock updates.
  • Carry out routine physical inventory counts and reconcile with digital records to prevent discrepancies or losses.
  • Maintain a well-organized store layout for easy retrieval and accountability of materials.

Receiving & Inspection of Goods:

  • Inspect and verify the quality and quantity of all incoming materials and supplies against delivery notes and purchase orders.
  • Report any damaged, missing, or non-compliant items to procurement and ensure prompt resolution.
  • Document received goods properly and update inventory systems accordingly.

Distribution & Material Allocation:

  • Coordinate timely and accurate issuance of materials and tools to project teams, ensuring they meet specific job requirements.
  • Track the movement of inventory between sites and storage facilities, ensuring proper documentation accompanies all dispatches.
  • Work closely with site supervisors to anticipate material needs and avoid project delays due to stock shortages.

Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all inventory activities including stock-in, stock-out, stock adjustments, and transfers.
  • Generate periodic inventory reports for management review, highlighting consumption trends, reorder needs, and potential risks.
  • Assist in the preparation of inventory audits and provide support during inspection exercises.

Compliance & Safety Oversight

  • Ensure all inventory practices comply with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Monitor proper handling, stacking, and storage of materials to avoid accidents and maintain material integrity.
  • Enforce health and safety standards within the store and report any hazards or unsafe practices.

Equipment and Tool Management:

  • Keep records of issued tools and equipment, tracking usage and return conditions.
  • Coordinate basic maintenance and timely repairs for tools and equipment to extend usability and performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of HND or equivalent; certification in inventory, warehousing, or supply chain is an advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within the real estate or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and equipment.
  • Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, record-keeping, and communication skills.
  • Physically fit, with the ability to lift heavy items and enforce safety procedures.
  • Must be firm, professional, and trustworthy, with a commitment to delivering results.

Salary
N200,000 - N250,000 per month.
