1.) Consultant Ophthalmologist

Job Location: Warri, Delta

Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for treating all eye illnesses, diseases, injuries and other eye conditions.
  • He/she will perform vision test, prescribe corrective lenses and attend to all surgical eye issues both in children and adults.

Key Result Areas (KRA)
Clinical Care:


  • Provide routine care such as vision testing, prescription of glasses and contact lenses.
  • Diagnose and treat all eye diseases in children and adult.
  • Performing advanced surgical procedures such as repair of eye injuries, corneas and removal of cataracts.
  • Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors.
  • Communicate with patients regarding surgeries, follow-up care, tests and procedures.
  • Treating medical disorders that affect the vision.
  • Using therapeutic procedures and performing biopsies.
  • Renewed glasses if necessary.
  • Coordinate the delivery of eyewear products to customers according to specified guidelines.
  • Educate patients on how to use the various eye wears especially contact lenses.
  • Advise patients on lens and frame selections.

Administrative Functions:

  • Manage the administrative requirements of the clinic and patient care including planning and budgeting activities for the clinic.
  • Supervise and manage staff and nurses in the department.
  • Adhere to all Lily Hospital policies and procedure with reference to best clinical practice.
  • Promote health education in conjunction with other health professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to you by senior leadership

Health and Safety:

  • Participate in clinical audit and quality programs as appropriate.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate medical record keeping practices.
  • Ensure proper credentialing of all patients before going to the theatre for surgery.
  • Comply with all the provisions of Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum academic qualification of a Fellowship Degree from the West African College of Surgeons or National Postgraduate Medical College or any relevant qualification.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant cognate work experience as an ophthalmologist.
  • Membership of Nigeria Medical Association
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written), interpersonal and people management skills.
  • Member Ophthalmology society of Nigeria both local and national.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft office package.
  • Possess high degree of accuracy and attention to details.

2.) Consultant Urologist

Job Summary

  • This role specializes in the diagnosing and treatment of diseases/conditions of the male and female urinary tract & male reproductive system.
  • He/ She focuses on the kidneys, uterus, urethra, urinary bladder and all other male reproductive organs

Key Result Areas
Clinical Service Delivery:

  • Examining diagnosing and treating patient condition and disorders of the genitourinary organs and tracts.
  • Documenting and reviewing patient history.
  • Review and advise In-patients referred by hospital specialist colleagues for assessment, within a timeframe appropriate to the clinical circumstances.
  • Performing abdominal, pelvic or retroperitoneal surgeries when necessary.
  • To conduct research to develop and test surgical techniques that can improve operating procedures and outcomes.
  • Ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are collected and maintained for patients appropriately signed and dated with legible entry in the patient’s medical record upon patient’s attendance to the clinic.
  • Contribute to quality patient care by participation in case planning which includes appropriate pre-admission planning, In-hospital care and discharge planning.
  • Be available to consult with the Medical Officer/Registrar/House Surgeon by telephone, or be called back to assist the Medical Officer/ Registrar/House Surgeon or other members of Team.
  • Treating lower urinary tract dysfunctions.
  • Order investigations for surgical treatment, post-operative monitoring and discharge for all patients care.
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality programs as appropriate
  • To be "on-call" or participate in shift rosters is a requirement of the position
  • Teach senior registrars, registrars, house surgeons, nurses and nurse assistants as appropriate.

Administrative Functions:

  • Manage the administrative requirements of the hospital and patient care including ensuring discharge summaries and medico-legal correspondence are completed with no delay.
  • Be aware of and adhere to all Lily Hospital policies and procedure in reference to clinical practice.
  • Coordinates the departmental activities with those of the hospital.
  • Ensure accomplishment of quality on – the – job training in the department/unit under him/her.

Health and Safety:

  • Participate in clinical audit and quality programs as appropriate.
  • Ensuring consistent and accurate medical record keeping practices.
  • Ensure proper credentialing of all patients before going to the theatre for surgery.
  • Comply with all the provisions of Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019.

Reporting Lines:

  • Functionally: Branch Lead Clinical Services
  • Administratively: Managing Director

Education and Requirements

  • The job holder must have a license to practice medicine from the Nigerian Medical and Dental Association and must hold a Specialist qualification in Urology.
  • 5-7 years of cognate working experience.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Surgery and other specialist areas of surgical practice such as oncology, pathology, uro-radiology and uro – traumatology and some general surgery.
  • Familiarity with cultural and religious concerns of patients, and current legislation on patient rights.
  • Job holder must be empathetic and portray a caring and professional manner in all aspects of work.
  • The job holder must have good hand-eye coordination, stamina and empathy for patients.
  • Job holder must have a working knowledge of global quality assurance, clinical audit principles and processes and must exhibit a commitment towards continuous quality improvement.
  • Must show evidence of competence in management of urological conditions and evidence of active participation in surgical research and continuous professional development.
  • The job holder must have good communication skills, strong ability to work well under extreme pressure, self-discipline and excellent long-term concentration.

3.) Consultant Radiologist

Job Summary

  • This role is handled by a physician who specializes in using medical imaging to diagnosis illnesses in patients.
  • They review varieties of imaging tools such as; ultrasound, MRI, CT to assess and treat patient.
  • They consult with other doctors in the treatment of patients.
  • They are responsible for interpreting the test done by technicians before consulting with their clients.

Key Result Areas (KRA)
Clinical Service Delivery:

  • Undertake and report on radiological diagnostic and interventional procedures where appropriate.
  • Provide expert advice to referring clinicians on the most appropriate diagnostic investigations.
  • Advice and support other radiology staff in the radiological processes.
  • Contribute to quality patient care by participating in case planning with other members of the medial team.
  • Determine the exact image required for diagnosis and delivering orders.
  • Performing minimal surgical techniques with image guidance when necessary.
  • To be "on-call" or participate in shift Rota’s is a requirement of the position.

Administrative Functions:

  • Manage the administrative requirements of the hospital and patient care including ensuring discharge summaries and medico-legal correspondence are completed with no delay.
  • Coordinates the departmental activities with those of the hospital.
  • Ensure accomplishment of quality training in the department.
  • Be aware of and adhere to all Lily Hospital policies and procedure in reference to clinical practice.
  • Ensure credentialing requirements before any procedure is carried out.
  • Any other additional responsibility as maybe assigned by senior leadership.

Health and Safety:

  • Maintain safe practices on all radiologic procedures in line with international standard.
  • Comply with all the provisions of Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • The job holder must have a license to practice medicine from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and should be a licensed Radiologist certified by the West African College of Surgeons or the National Post graduate Medical College.
  • Proven work experience of 3-5 years of cognate experience as a radiologist or similar role
  • Familiarity with cultural and religious concerns of patients, and current legislation on patient rights.
  • Job holder must portray a caring and professional manner in all aspects of work.
  • Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail to interpret imaging results
  • The job holder must have good communication skills, ability to remain calm in stressful situations, self-discipline and excellent long-term concentration.
  • Job holder must have a working knowledge of global quality assurance, clinical audit principles and processes and must exhibit a commitment towards continuous quality improvement.
  • Must show evidence of competence in management of radiological cases and evidence of active participation in relevant research
  • The job holder must have good communication skills, and ability to work well under extreme pressure, self-discipline and excellent long-term concentration.
