MKOBO is a fully licensed Microfinance bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Lagos, Nigeria. MKOBO was conceived to help solve consumers’ need for access to short-term emergency credit. Our goal is to provide access to short term unsecured loans, which is easily accessible. We cater to the demography currently undeserved by the Commercial banks in our aim to help increase financial inclusion of the Nigerian population.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Credit & Risk Officer

Job Responsibilities


  • Work with Unit Head in Planning, designing implementing & managing the overall risk management process for the bank by developing the risk management framework, policies, processes, procedures and reporting standards that define the bank’s risk strategy and appetite in line with its overall business objectives
  • Monitor the business development for emerging risks and recommend policies and procedures to improve the risk management process
  • Developing methods to generate a robust system to identify, monitor, manage and control credit, market and operational risks.
  • Facilitate the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, controlling and reporting the level of risk.
  • Work with Unit Head to provide support, education and training to staff in order to create and increase risk awareness
  • Ensures proper documentation of credits by adhering to set documentation standards and procedures
  • Ensure the approved  credit  framework and recommend credit approval limits in line with banks’ policy is adhered
  • Analysis and appraisal of Individual credit requests in accordance with approved policies and procedures to ensure that credit exposures are created subject to stipulated guidelines
  • Conduct periodic stress tests and scenario analysis, assessing the impact to the Bank’s credit portfolio and make appropriate recommendations to senior management for appropriate action
  • Review and analyse the delinquent portfolio to identify key causal factors, make recommendations and track them to ensure adequate and timely closure
  • Responsible for loan recovery, such as negotiating work out plans and strategies for delinquent customers and provide additional support with respect to exposures requiring collection agencies or legal action
  • Monitor violations of credit policies, provide analysis, conclusion and recommendations, present findings to senior management and suggest actions/penalties to be taken when appropriate
  • Prepare timely, comprehensive and reliable credit risk reports to senior management and board on a regular basis
  • Carry out any other task as required from time to time.
  • Monitor NPL and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Review and track department risk exposure and make recommendations

The primary purpose of this position centres on ensuring the Bank’s operations are properly designed, documented and managed. The positions covers:

  • Risk Management (credit risk Analysis)
  • Debt Repayment
  • Asset/Collateral Recovery and Maintenance
  • PAR (Portfolio at Risk) and Credit Monitoring
  • NPL (Non Performing Loans) and PDO (Past due Obligations) review and recovery
  • In-depth knowledge of Debt/Asset Recovery Policies.

Qualifications
What we are looking out for:

  • Candidates should possess an HND or Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration etc. from a reputable University or Polytechnic.
  • Must have 3-4 years working experience in Credit, Loan and Asset Recovery activities.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role at a MFB or Financial institution 
  • Hands-on experience working in a Microfinance and/or FINTECH space 
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management abilities
  • Experience in database Management.
  • Experience is recovery.
  • Post graduate degree or MCIB is an added advantage
  • Awareness of emerging and innovative credit risk assessment specifically social scoring, alternative credit scoring and big data analytics tools.

2.) Operations / Customer Success Officer

Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria

The Role

  • As the Customer Success Associate, you are the first contact for our members/customers.
  • You are saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that our Customer receive prompt and professional support experience anytime they contact Mkobo. This will include taking ownership of issues and liaising with other teams to troubleshoot and help resolve them.

Responsibilities

  • Provide seamless customer experience to our customers
  • Engage and build customer loyalty by going the extra mile to ensure our Customers achieve their goals with our products.
  • Respond to customers' requests via email, phone and other digital channels
  • Interface with internal stakeholders to ensure effective resolution process for customers/stakeholders
  • Maintain knowledge of all our products, services, and customer service policies
  • Ensure all customer interactions are documented on the helpdesk management tool
  • Explain simply and clearly in response to customer questions and ensure it understood by the Customer
  • Recommend new services/solutions and/or make suggestions for improvements by identifying relevant features and benefits
  • Provide support and training to new Customers during the onboarding process
  • Interface with other teams in order to help resolve Customer issues in a timely manner
  • Escalate issues that cannot be resolved on first call resolution(FCR) to the backend and follow up on a resolution.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised institution.
  • Must have 2 - 3 years of experience.
  • Previous customer service experience is a plus
  • Good command of written and verbal English
  • Friendly and welcoming manner with clients and other members of the customer service team
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm and polite manner in stressful situations

3.) Internal Control Officer

Job Role

  • The primary purpose of this role is to provide operational support for the Lifeline Asset Finance (LAF) activities of the Bank.
  • The LAF Operations Associate ensures that all operational activities for LAF partners and riders are carried out efficiently with a high level of professionalism and superior customer service.
  • Engaging LAF Partner representatives and officers on LAF related matters
  • Conduct riders pre-screening and on-boarding exercises
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on all matters involving LAF riders and  ensure speedy resolution to service issues.
  • Conducts daily monitoring and tracking of the motorcycles assigned to LAF Partners/Riders
  • Oversee daily operational activities of the riders and partner related matters
  • Responsible for Bike recovery in the event of payment default by riders.
  • Follow up with service centres for quick repairs and servicing of bikes
  • Engage all third-party service providers for Asset insurance, tracking and registration processing.
  • Monitor and assess operational risk exposures, events, business and IT incidents to ensure such cases are appropriately escalated.
  • Support the business in development and implementation of appropriate risk controls to mitigate such incidents.
  • Embedding an appropriate risk culture.
  • Act as the first point of call in providing operational support for the LAF riders
  • Escalate to the COO all issues which requires management decision and Authorization
  • Internal controls function to minimize risks and protect assets, ensure accuracy of records, promote operational efficiency, and encourage adherence to policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Identify the risks that a business faces and develop preventive strategies.
  • Reviewing of SOP from time to time.
  • Provide training on policy and controls.
  • Review Vendor creation, Customer Creation (Agreements), and Credit setting for customers.
  • Review Capex project briefs and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or any related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in risk and internal control.
  • Certification in MCIB is a plus.
